Day in and day out, immigrants work hard to achieve permanent residency or
citizenship in the U.S. and live in constant fear. While some Americans understand
that the immigration strengthens the American society by attracting the intellectual
and entrepreneurs, others are taking it to social media to express their humor or anti
immigration feelings saying immigrants are a threat to Americans customs and
values. A few are even attacking immigrant groups with foul language and violence.
One such incident occurred just a few months ago in February, 2017. Patrons at a
Kansas bar kicked Adam W. Purinton, a US citizen and a Kansas resident, out because
he was questioning two Indian bar patrons immigration status and throwing racial
slurs at them. Angry Purinton returned to the bar with a handgun that same night and
shot at the two Indians, killing one and wounding the other. Later in court, the
indictment accused Purinton of shooting the two men because of their actual and
perceived race, color, religion and national origin. Not even two weeks later, an
Indian born man was outside his house in Seattle when an attacker shouted, Go back
to your own country before shooting him in the arm. Incidents like these are leaving
many Indian immigrants worried for themselves and their families. As an Indian born

For the Easter vigil I attended at the Ross Hall Chapel at 7:30 pm at the University
of St. Mary on Saturday, April 15th. Although this was my third time going to this
chapel I still felt a little lost how the Chapel did their services. From how the
service was structured, to certain prayers I felt overwhelmed with the many
sacraments that were done that night. This time I prepared myself to leave on time
and reached the church ten minutes early. As I was heading to the chapel area I
saw many of the attendees walking out of the chapel. At first, I thought I was late,
so I asked if I the service had ended. They told me, no and they were heading to the
front of the building for the blessing of the fire. They said I could head into the
chapel pick a seat, and then meet with them at the front. So I entered the chapel

about the true purpose of writing and the importance of genuinely putting your heart
into your work. He discusses how the only way writing can truly be valuable is if the
author is dedicated to showing the authentic love the human spirit holds and what that
love is capable of accomplishing. A good piece of writingwill show both strength and
vulnerability and will not be written for fame or recognition. It will be written for the
