the right thing. We speak up when something is

united against the competition ('us' versus
'them')

“LET SAFRISAFE MANAGE YOUR SAFETY”
RISK ASSESSMENTS
Workforce injuries and illness can ruin
lives and businesses. Solutions are
often simple and cheap and the people
best placed to create safer workplaces
are owners and their employees. Health
and Safety is a fundamental
requirement of a sustainable business
and should be regarded as an essential
part of any business management
system. Unwise risk taking is an
underlying problem in the industry and
those working on their own are
especially vulnerable. Managing health
and safety is no different – you need to
manage it to make sure that you, your
workers, family members and others are
kept safe at work.

Risk Assessments
Risk Assessment is the most
important part of any business. If we
are not familiar with operational risks
related to our business operations
we will not be able to manage any
business in a safe and productive
manner or to create a safe and
productive working environment for
our employees and families.
Competent and experienced
SafriSafe risk specialists work
according to well-defined processes
to examine the entire business to
identify, analyse and prioritise
operational risks related to all
farming activities and establish
effective controls to manage risks
that can result in major unwanted
events. This pro-active approach
prevent possible unwanted events
and contributes to the maximisation
of profits. The Occupational Health
and Safety Management System is
designed based on the risks which
pose a threat to our business.
Incident
Investigations
There may be occasions when
you need technical expertise
outside your business to assist
with incident and fatal
investigations. You and your
health and safety representatives
should then decide together
where to find such expertise.
At SafriSafe we have all the
expertiseand experience require
d to conduct Incident & Fatal
Investigations. Our consultants
have completed a vast amount of
Incident & Fatal Investigations
within the mining and
construction industries.
SafriSafe can assist with
all inquiries in terms of the
Occupational Health & Safety
Act. We will assist with the
investigation, preparation and
presentation to the inquiry panel.
Consultation
SafriSafe has the expertise and knowledge to assist your organisation
with Health and Safety Strategies. The collective experience and
understanding gained from being extensively involvement in large
organisations enables us to focus on the subtle intricacies of these
subjects. SafriSafe has assisted large organisations in defining medium
and long term Health and Safety Strategies.
Our vast experience and databank provide in depth knowledge and
resources to guide your company towards a Zero Harm Strategy.
SafriSafe have successfully determined the root causes of each of
these incidents and accidents and these results assisted the
organisations in their Health and Safety Strategies to prevent repeats
of the same incidents.
Design and Implementation of
Safety Management Systems
Occupational Health and Safety management system enables a
company to control its occupational health and safety risks and to
improve its performance by means of continuous improvement.
For instance, an environmental management system enables
organizations to improve their environmental performance through
a process of continuous improvement. A more complete system
would include accountability (an assignment of personal
responsibility) and a schedule for activities to be completed, as well
as auditing tools to implement corrective actions in addition to
scheduled activities, creating an upward spiral of continuous
improvement.

Policy and Procedures
The Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, requires the
employer to provide and maintain as far as reasonable and practical a
work environment that is safe and without risk to the health of
employees.
Section 7 of the Act provides direction to employers concerning the
health and safety policy of the organisation. Employers need to comply
with minimum standard legislation but the employer also have the right
to set a better standard for their particular business. It is imperative to
communicate these standards to employees and other role players like
contractors. This should preferably be done in writing and these
documents are called policies and procedures.
SafriSafe can assist business in drafting your health and safety policies
and procedures or update existing material. We will provide you with
useable documentation to help a business comply with the
Management of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Auditing and
Inspections
All businesses have an obligation
under law to provide a safe and
healthy workplace for their
employees, contractors, family
and visitors. Businesses who
don’t act to fulfil health and
safety responsibilities may be
faced with fines and penalties,
not to mention unwanted
incidences.
SafriSafe have the expertise and
knowledge of regulations with
the Occupational Health and
Safety sector to accommodate
clients with Legal Compliance
Audits. We help our clients to
practically and effectively comply
with the laws, rules, codes or
standards that apply to them.
A compliance audit is a broad
review of an organizations
adherence to regulatory
guidelines. We evaluate the
strength and thoroughness of
compliance preparations and risk
management procedures are
reviewed over the course of the
compliance audit. Organisations
must be able to demonstrate
compliance by producing an
audit trail through a data base or
appropriate management
system. Auditing is an essential
activity for business owners.
The audit process involves the
following steps:
1. Planning the audit
2. Conducting the audit –
usually over a time period
and the time allocated to
the audit is determined by
the scope.
3. Assessment of audit
findings
4. Reporting on audit findings
Our Safe-T Package
The Safrisafe Safety, Health and Environment package (Safe-T Pack) is designed and
developed to guide business owners through a step by step process to develop and
implement a Safety, Health and Environmental Management system. This will not only align
their businesses with legal requirements, but will create a safe working environment for
themselves, their workers, contractors and visitors.
Effective implementation of this program will ensure a pro-active approach to not only
prevent unwanted events from occurring, but to ensure the safety of persons working on
sites. A critical outcome of the process is that it creates a culture of caring and has a positive
influence on the behaviour of all employees.

Training / Skills
Outcomes Based Training
Outcome-based education (OBE) is an educational theory that bases each part of an
educational system around goals (outcomes). By the end of the educational experience
each student should have achieved the goal. There is no specified style of teaching or
assessment in OBE; instead classes, opportunities, and assessments should all help
students achieve the specified outcomes.
On-Site Training
SafriSafe focus on in-company training and can deliver any of our training course to your team.
Whether it be in an office or on a farm, SafriSafe saves you the cost of sending delegates away for
courses. If you have 10 or more employees interested in one of our courses, we can run on-site
training for you. Training is tailored to your business and lets your people study in the setting where
they’ll use their skills. Training on-site allows you to save on each individual delegate and also cut
out travel and accommodation expenses.
 We can provide a management briefing, auditor training, or any of the courses listed within
this catalogue
 Receive training in your own confidential surroundings
 We charge by the delegate, although cost-effective packages can negotiated for groups.
 Training on-site simplifies scheduling and ensures more of your employees will be able to
attend and learn.

Designed to warn the operator and suppress the
fire, protecting both equipment and employees. The
automatic systems suppress the fire in its earliest
stages before it becomes fully established and
spreads into highly combustible areas. As a result,
damage is limited and equipment down time is held
to a minimum. Systems are designed and installed
to suppress a fire before it can reach the operator
or passenger areas, quickly and efficiently
Hand portable and mobile firefighting
equipment
We provide a complete range of portable fire
extinguishers, such as powder, water, foam and
carbon dioxide fire extinguishers. Our products
cover the fire classes A, B, C, D and F for all
application areas and industries.
Smoke Aspiration Systems
Central detection unit which draws air through a
network of pipes to detect smoke. Systems also
can be equipped with modules to detect
hazardous/combustible gases to extend their
value beyond smoke detection to include gas
detection and environmental monitoring.
Fire detection and control systems
Signals congregate in the fire alarm control panel
warning people at risk. Flames, smoke, gas
emissions, heat – fire has many facets.
Gaseous Systems
Suppresses fire quickly without further damaging
sensitive equipment and does not require a time
consuming clean-up of the extinguishing agent
afterwards. It is also one of the safest fire

Section 7 of the Act provides direction to employers concerning the health and safety policy of the organisation. Employers need to comply with minimum standard legislation but the employer also have the right to set a better standard for their particular business. The audit process involves the following steps: 1. Planning the audit 2. Conducting the audit – usually over a time period and the time allocated to the audit is determined by the scope. 3.
