Work Practices. Our staff are expected to demonstrate safety behaviors that protect themselves, their
fellow workers, the general public and clients. We also promote “see something, say something” when
it comes to the safety behaviors of others. There is no reprisal for reporting unsafe or suspected unsafe
behaviors. Our Safety Officer is always available to provide support with our online safety platform, to
answer questions and provide guidance where you may need it.

related incident.
Employees have a responsibility to recognize and report fatigue symptoms.
Workers are to report to first aid if they are experiencing fatigue symptoms.
Every Employee shall have necessary work breaks in order to avoid fatigue.
These scheduled breaks will apply to both driving and on-site hours. The
following shall be a minimum (or reflect local legislated requirements):

• 30 Minutes after 5 Hours
• 30 Minutes after 10 Hours
GSS will endeavor to ensure that no workers shall work more than 12 hours

of an incident.

z
Employee Referral Program
The Gitxsan Development Corporation and its affiliated entities recognize that “good people know good
people”. Our Employee Referral Program is designed to encourage staff to identify positive qualities in
friends, acquaintances and family, promote GDC as an employer of choice and to motivate their
contacts to apply for active or future job openings.
This program awards employees when they assist GDC in finding qualified employees to join our team.
It will also help decrease the cost per hire and decrease turnover.
To encourage employees to refer new employees, an award of $100 will be provided to the referring
employee, (less applicable taxes), after the referred candidate is hired and passes the probationary
period (480 hours worked).
