SAE International – History
 SAE International was founded in 1905
 Andrew L. Riker and Henry Ford serving as first president and vice-president.
 The organization's World Headquarters are in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, with an
additional office in Troy, Michigan that serves Detroit.
 The initial membership figure tallied 30 engineers.
 Charles Kettering, one of the most famous automotive engineers in history, patented the
automobile self-starter in 1911
 Post WWII era the SAE Annual Meeting evolved into a major exhibit and educational
event now known as the SAE World Congress
 During the 1980s SAE established an electronic publishing activity

• SAEINDIA was established in Chennai 2002.
• SAEINDIA became an Affiliate Society of SAE International in the year 2002
• Dr. K. Kumar was elected as the 1st President of SAEINDIA.
• SAEINDIA Collegiate Clubs were also started their establishment in 2003.
• R. Mahadevan was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
• SAEINDIA signed agreement with SIAM / ACMA at AutoExpo 2004.
• SAEINDIA Mobility International Conference held at New Delhi in 2004.
• 1st BAJA & AWIM SAEINDIA was conducted in 2006.
• A World In Motion (AWIM) Int Introduced on all India based.
• SAEINDIA Mobility International Conference was held at New Delhi in 2008
