Horseless Age, and Horace Swetland of The
Automobile were advocates of the concepts for SAE
Horace Swetland wrote on automotive engineering
concerns, and became an original SAE officer.

Henry Ford served as the society's first vice
president.

6. SAEINDIA is an affiliate society of SAE International,
registered as an Indian non profit engineering and
scientific society dedicated to the advancement of
mobility community in India.
SAEINDIA comprises members who are individuals
from the mobility community, which includes
engineers, executives from industry, government
officials, academics and students.
Principal emphasis is placed on transport
industries such as automotive, aerospace, and
commercial vehicles.

Pawan Goenka, appointed as advisor for India
The SAE president held discussions with the Indian
automotive industry and as a result, the Western
India Section was established.
SAEINDIA sections were formed all across the
country.
In 2007, Baja SAEINDIA And in 2008 SUPRA
SAEINDIA was launched which proved to be the
growing crop of engineers from colleges across the
country to showcase their talent and fuel the
growth of the Indian automotive industry.

9. Membership Eligibility : Applicants must be students leading in any bachelor,
masters, or doctoral in engineering technology.
Membership year for new enrolment is April 1st to March 31st : Student
applications received Jan' 1st through March 31st will be held for the next
membership year beginning April 1st , if not stated implicitly.
Student Annual Dues are Rs.456/-
First year students can pay the membership fee as Rs.1600 + 500 + 294 (14%
Service Tax) for all 4 years + 1year for transfer of membership to Associate
Membership.
Students can also join the 4+1 scheme & enrol themselves till one year after the
passing out year. The student 4+1 enrolment scheme is as follows:
At the time of admission into 1st Year Rs.400 x 4 + 500 + 294= Rs.2394/-
At the time of entry into 2nd Year Rs.400 x 3 + 600 + 252= Rs.2052/-
At the time of entry into 3rd Year Rs.400 x 2 + 700 + 210= Rs.1710/-
At the time of entry into Final Year Rs.400 x 1 + 800 + Rs.168= Rs.1368/-
The membership card will be valid for a period of which the member is paying the
subscriptions as stated above.
