SATs are statutory assessment tests that most Year 2 children in England take to check their progress towards meeting national expectations in reading, writing, maths, and science. The tests cover a range of skills and can be in the form of tasks, tests, and teacher assessments. Children are assessed at different levels depending on whether they are working below, within, or above national expectations. While the tests are important, teacher judgement and assessments are considered the most important factors. Parents are asked to ensure their children get enough sleep and aren't taken out of school during the SATs period to help them do their best.
