OVERVIEW
The S
2
battery promises to be the disruptive technology the industry has been desperately
seeking. Substantial annual cost savings across multiple industries with battery market
applications yielding a reduction in costs of $16.5B/year. Tesla, alone, could save $8B/year.
Innovative, thermodynamically stable lithium battery technology combines up 2-3 times greater
battery life with approximately 1/3 the manufacturing cost of current Li-Ion batteries.
INNOVATION
Tomorrow's microelectronic devices will combine thinner, sleeker packaging with further
increased capabilities. To power these demands, next generation of lithium batteries must
combine better performance at a far reduced thickness. Combined with inherent safety/reliability
concerns and less than desirable energy density, Li-ion is incapable of meeting these demands
in its current form. These challenges are well documented and no company has been able to
crack the code.
S
2
Batteries resolves this problem by developing next-generation "skin" batteries at a fraction of
today's prices. Our patented process allows for high-speed, continuous manufacturing of solid
state batteries, a first in the battery marketplace. S
2
Batteries uses our patented process of
combining existing battery technology (solid state) with a known manufacturing processes (FSP
– Flame Spray Pyrolysis), resulting in a much lower execution risk.
MARKET & COMPETITION
Solid-state batteries have shown outstanding performance in niche markets such as military
and spaceflight applications. However, next generation microelectronic devices require not only
high energy density and excellent reliability, but also far reduced pack sizes and costs.
Developers of solid-state batteries are almost universally using thin film deposition technology,
which does not dramatically reduce size at the pack level and misses the mark on cost by a
factor of 3. S2 Batteries breaks this mold by being the first to offer a continuous process
capable of dramatically lowering the production cost per unit while also reducing cell packaging
requirements to dramatically increase pack energy density.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
Cheaper; Longer Life; More Recharge Cycles; Safer; Lighter; the only battery with a
performance to cost ratio better than 1:1.
