- Wide area network (WAN) and the local area network (LAN) have been developed. Scalability, efficiency, quality, and maintenance are key considerations. robust, redundant, and offers virtualization services to customers highly secure, offering customers the ability to manage classified as well as top secret projects. ITAR is also incorporated into the policies of the Center-3 rd party, Front Line Test Services, LLC is preparing to develop these policies for all Center operations. The Center should have the capability of managing all data and networking services for clients within the park as these companies expand and begin to incubate in Riverstone. Local Area Network (LAN) Switching The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series in the modeling and simulation Center is an innovative switching platform that delivers high levels of integrated intelligent services and operational efficiency for the video-ready networks of Riverstone Technology Park. Cisco Catalyst 6500 sets the standard for converged video, voice, and data networks. In addition, the Center created a robust network with the Cisco Catalyst 3750E Series, an enterprise-class line of stackable wiring closet switches featuring Cisco StackWise® Plus technology to help businesses build a unified, resilient stacking solution. Center’s LAN is a cost center in itself. This means that as companies grow in the building and the park, the Modeling and Simulation Center can charge companies and partners for network services and create additional revenue streams. Data management, QoS, storage, aggregation, and distribution are the types of network services envisioned for clients in the park.

- The model represents the core services the Center has to offer clients. The foundation level consists of all core Business Support Services including funding assistance, financing referrals, legal services (IP), accounting assistance, office administration assistance, marketing assistance, public relations assistance, introductions to partners, coordination of advisory board, scientific feasibility studies, technical council, on-site classes and conferences, advice and collaboration, in-region consulting, and strategy reviews. The second level of the triangle model encompasses the Modeling and Simulations Services that the incubator can offer clients. This includes energy instrumentation, Cisco TelePresence, visualization laboratory, geospatial laboratory/GIS immersive environments, supercomputing capabilities, computational stage simulation capabilities, 3-D post-processing visualization and animation, and computer-aided design. The third level of services is Professional Scientific and Engineering Services. This incorporates energy services ranging from carbon management services and sustainability services to engineering such as electrical, mechanical, and environmental. Another aspect of professional services includes those in air quality, ecology, geographic information systems, ground water, and risk assessment. The third level also provides technology services that delve into all categories. The top of the triangle is the Value Added Reseller (VAR), the key to success where the incubator combines all of its assets into creating strong collaborative partnerships and commercialization of incubated clients. This encompasses the following key aspects: leveraged relationships, high volume sales, high profit margins, optimization of technology, and an integrator. Research Triangle International (RTI) is exploring the role of VAR services now under contract with the Center. The VAR played a role in the information technology revolution and Dr. Inge has found that these same services are even more viable in the energy integration area. RTI is researching these issues and validating the Center’s focus areas relative to energy commercialization.
