The Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM) aims to develop 300 'rurban clusters' in India, enhancing economic development and basic services for rural populations, which constitute 68% of the total population. The mission focuses on creating well-planned clusters of villages that maintain rural community essence while incorporating urban infrastructure and amenities, with a goal of stimulating local economies and attracting investment. Funding and resource mobilization will be achieved through existing government schemes and critical gap funding to ensure implementation and development of the clusters.
