The Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) initiative was launched in 2009 by the Ministry of Rural Development to provide free residential training and marketing support to rural unemployed youth to encourage self-employment. The RSETIs are operated through partnerships between banks and the National Rural Development and Panchayati Raj institute. They identify and train rural youth in various skills, help them establish micro-enterprises, and provide two years of post-training support. Currently there are 587 RSETIs across India aiming to establish one in each district, and they have collectively trained over 15 lakh candidates, with around 10 lakh candidates settled into self-employment.
