Part 1: Science and Health Mini-Lesson Plan
Science and health standard: P-LS1-2. Planning and investigating the manner in which common animals and/ or plants use parts of their bodies to survive in their habitats (New York State Education Department, 2019). Aspects of emphasis include: correlations between living and physical environment, and how people interact with the physical environment to increase survivorship.
Grade level: 2
1-2 learning objectives:
· To identify and name different body parts of common plants and animals, and how the body parts are used to support the survival and life processes of identified plants and animals.
· To understand different ways through which plants and animals especially humans relate with their physical environment to increase survivorship and care for the environment.
Instructional strategy:
Description of different body parts of plants and animals using text, paper charts, and videos. Introduction and explanation of relevant vocabulary that relate to the physical environment and the plants and animals under study. The teacher will ask and answer questions. Students will be grouped and given an opportunity to discuss and tell stories of the body parts and functions that they are familiar with.
Description of the learning activity that successfully integrates science and health (100-150 words):
The learning activities that integrate science and health is the use of charts and audiovisual devices to illustrate to students the names of different body parts of plants and animals. By observing different activities that people engage in such as planting of trees, and the functions of parts of trees such as leaves and roots, students will be able to relate positive environmental outcomes associated with planting of trees. It will then be easy for them to understand why engaging in appropriate environmental and hygienic activities contribute to good health and high survivorship of humans and other animals. Students will also be placed in groups and allowed to demonstrate activities that contribute to good health and hygienic environment among themselves. Students will also narrate stories about their day-to-day activities on the environment and how such activities contribute to good health.
Formative assessment: Verbal questions, group work, written questions, drawing assignments, and think-pair-share in which the teacher asks questions, students write down the answers and allowed to discuss their answers in groups.

Lecture teaching strategy is an effective and straightforward way of quickly impacting students with knowledge and is effective when introducing new material (Xu, 2016). It addresses cognitive domain.
Lecture teaching strategy becomes effective because the instructor gives elaborate details of the course and engage student. Through student and teacher interaction, educator is able to explain, demonstrate, and answer learners’ question hence foster their learning.
For learners who prefer to listen to information, lecture teaching strategy and aural learning style would be appropriate. This is because a student may learn better through hearing and responding to the lecturer rather than using notes. Also, learners may read loudly to improve their understanding (Ocepek et al., 2013).
The lecture strategy may be implemented by clearly stating the instructor’s expectation from learners, be prepared to highlight the key concept to enable learners to keenly follow, ask a question to engage the student as well as ask for their feedback.
Educators can use a language that is understood by all learners when using the lecture teaching strategy to pass information to learners. Effective cross-cultural communication would be essential to promote cultural sensitivity by avoiding slangs, and avoiding cultural biases (Ladha et al., 2018).

Goals of the Evaluation
Identification of the Approaches that Lead to Program Implementation
One of the main goals of the evaluation is to identify different ways through which the student assessment program will be initiated. There are different stages and activities that will be undertaken from time to time to complete the project. For instance, teachers will work with parents to identify innate students’ talents, and to determine their personal inclinations. Teachers will also study the students keenly in order to detect the students’ areas of strengths and weaknesses both in academic issues, art, and physical education (PE). Other activities in talent-identification processes include student engagement in competition and talent-based activities.
Encourage Students to View Education Positively
In view of the pressure that students experience as a result of the high academic expectations and performance standards set to them by parents and teachers, the aim of the evaluation is to encourage students .

ABSTRACT: This study assessed the effectiveness of the utilization of Cooperative Learning (CL) in
Secondary Social Studies instruction, in Zone 2, Department of Education, Division of Zambalesduring the 3rd
quarter of the school year 2018-2019. A descriptive research design and survey questionnaire were the main
data-gathering instruments.The researcher concluded that the teacher-respondents are female, in their early
adulthood, specializing in Social Studies, Teacher I, holders of Bachelor Degrees with Master’s units, quite new
in the teaching profession and have attended few seminars.The level of performance of high school students in
Social Studies using Cooperative Learning Methods and Activities improved from Pre-Test which is
Approaching Proficiency to Proficient in the Post Test, increased chances for students’ conflict, noise and
limited techniques in maintaining students’ motivation were the challenges sometimes encountered when
cooperative learning was utilized in teaching Social Studies lesson and contents.There is a significant difference
in the perceived effectiveness of cooperative learning to students of the elements of Individual Accountability,
Small Group and Interpersonal Skills, and Group Processing when attributed to teachers’ age. There are no
significant differences in the perceived effectiveness of cooperative learning to students for Face to Face
Interaction when attributed to teachers’ profile and the perception of the extent of occurrence of
problems/challenges in the utilization of cooperative learning when grouped according to teachers’ profile
variables, and there is a highly significant difference on the result of pre-test and a post-test score of the high
school students in Social Studies using cooperative learning method and learning activities was established.
Teachers may plan ahead cooperative learning activities and tasks in which students work together on specific
roles and materials (Positive Interdependence); learn how to strengthen communication skills (Individual
Accountability); encourage each other to learn and perform the task (Face to Face Interaction); develop more
sensitivity and appreciate with others (Small Group and Interpersonal Skills), and reflect on the feedback they
receive (Group Processing).

Using Visual Aids to Enhance Third Year Undergraduate Teacher Trainee Student...Premier Publishers
There is a plethora of teaching strategies that are espoused by the science teacher to attain his/her lesson objectives. Researchers have over the years found most of these methods, the tactics used by teachers in teaching, to be effective in teaching science concepts to learners. However, research has not ascertained which one teaching strategy is most effective in imparting knowledge to learners. This study seeks to find an appropriate teaching strategy that will arouse the interest and participation of students in the teaching and learning process. Visual aids were employed as the main intervention strategy. A total of one hundred third year undergraduate teacher trainees from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana constitute the research sample. The participants were put into experimental and control groups. Tests and questionnaires were the main instruments used to collect data for analysis. Data collected were analyzed quantitatively using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, SPSS. The study found that the academic achievement of the students in the experimental group improved tremendously after the intervention, as opposed to that of their counterparts in the control group. The study concludes with the recommendation that visual aids should be used to teach concepts of science that are abstract in nature in order to make the lesson real to the learners.

Students’ performance was assessed formatively and through summative assessment. Summative assessment included providing students with a final examination at the end of their term that covered all the lessons taught. necessary. For students with poor visibility and slow readers,
audio-enabled electronic versions of the books were made
4. available in each computer for each group. The texts and parts
of objects were highlighted as they were read out to help
struggling students not to get lost and to improve their reading
skills. Furthermore, the classroom had to be rearranged during
group discussion sessions so that each group consisted of
students with varying levels of academic competencies to ensure
that there was a competent student in each group who would
offer help and guidance to struggling students in the groups
(Westwood, 2018). Demonstrations of how trees are planted was
done in bucket models of the ground in the classroom due to
time limitation while sweeping and moping was avoided due to
possible allergic reactions hence were demonstrated in videos.
Ethical Considerations
The main ethical consideration that needs to be observed is
privacy and confidentiality of students’ learning and personal
data. The teacher is supposed to handle and use students’
personal information discreetly by not sharing with the
information with fellow teachers and other third parties unless
if doing so would benefit the students or their families. Keeping
private students’ information helps avoid humiliation and
embarrassments that students can experience in the class or out
of the school settings, which can induce emotional,
psychological, and social inefficiency and ineffectiveness
(Westwood, 2018). Furthermore, the teacher is not supposed to
use students’ data to give examples to the class or to mention
such information when punishing and awarding unruly and
hardworking students respectively as this may lower the dignity
of the students’ and their family members. This can cause social
problems and low motivation on the part of the student, which
can destroy students’ motivation for learning and respect to the
teacher.
