Philippe Hubaut presented on two projects by the RATP Group to modernize their passenger information systems: Project "IMAGE" which involves deploying 3000 new displays across subway, bus and train networks; and the "On-Board Project" to provide real-time vehicle tracking and next stop information to passengers on displays installed on trains, trams, buses and subway cars. The goals are to improve real-time passenger information, especially during disruptions, and allow passengers to prepare for connections and be informed of any issues on their route or connecting lines. The first priority for on-board displays is the RER A commuter trains.

Key objectives
– Provide to our customers a real-time information on vehicles (Subway, Tram,
Train, Buses) on the current trip, using LCD displays fixed on board :
• progress on line, the next stops served, travel time,
• modes and connecting lines and next waiting time in real time.
• disturbances to which customers are moving (connecting lines disturbances, multi-
modal and other public transporters).
– Use the feedback from the IMAGE project : bring the Visuals and RTPI
Services on board
3 expectations for our customers :
– Reassurance :
• check it boarded the right vehicle
• know where and how long it should exit the vehicle
– Prepare following his journey :
• identify possible connections to other lines
– Be informed of any disruption
• on the line or other connecting lines/modes (train/subway/Tram)
The solution will be transversal to all our modes of transport
– New trains on RER a, Subway (Lines 1 & 14), Trams and new Buses (High-
level)
