3. TYPES OF DOORS IN RS10
• 8 Passenger Door per car .
• Cab to Saloon Door (In DM car).
• Front End Emergency Door (In DM car) .
4.
5.
6. Safety Precautions for Door operation
• Saloon Doors will automatically open and close at the
platform in ATO/UTO mode.
• We can also open the doors by pressing pushbutton 1 or push
button 2 when train is in ATP & ATO/UTO mode if
authorization is available.
• If authorization is not available then put MS to standby and
SCS to cut-out then we can open the doors by pressing
DOLPB2 & DOLPB3.
• Saloon doors must not be opened when train is not at the
station & confirm the platform side before manually opening
doors.
• After stabling the train in depot the TO should ensure proper
locking of all doors before leaving the train and also after
completion of job card, doors locking should be ensured.
• Before opening emergency door, availability of adequate
space in front of train should be ensured.
7. Externally hung, sliding bi-parting and identical doors .
Controlled by close, open, enable, block and zero signals from the EDCU.
Electrically operated and is equipped with Electronic Door Control Unit (EDCU) which can
communicate the information of door status with Train Control Management System (TCMS).

11. Drive assembly
Door System
Driving assembly consist of a driving screw ( spindle rod) and a ball-nut system.
The screw is right hand threaded over one half of its length and left hand threaded over the other
half.
Each half is assembled with a nut which is linked via fork to the corresponding door leaf.
Each nut is installed with a roller which travels along a groove in the main beam. This roller
prevents the nut from rotating during the translation phase and gets locked in the groove near
centre hook which prevents the un-intentional opening of the doors.

13. Electronic Door Control Unit
(EDCU)
Door System
Electronic Door Control Unit
(EDCU) controls and monitors
the door function and
generates fault in case of any
abnormality being detected
in door and communicates it
to TCMS.
14. Door limit switches
• Two Door Lock Switches (DLS) which
check the door locked position and is
operated after the DCS operation i.e
first the doors are closed and then
locked.
• Two Door close switches (DCS) which
check the door close position.
• One Emergency device switch which
gives the status of EED operation.
• One lockout switch which gives the
status of LOS operation. Item No. Description

15. • Push-back Device : After the doors are closed and locked, the re-opening
of each door leaf by 11 mm ± 5 mm (10 mm total gape). Push-back device
is incorporated in the linkage between the “driving nut” and driving arms,
so that a “locked” door panel is pushed-back.
• The push-back is a spring loaded device. The spring is compressed when
any attempt to open the doors manually is made and forces the door
leaves to return to their original position. After door is locked, the force to
reopen one door leaf is between 80 N and 120 N.
Note – operation of Push back device does not operate DCS.
16. Electric Motor Assembly
• DC series
permanent magnet
motor type.
• Mounted on Girder
assembly.
• The driving screw is
connected to the
motor through
coupling.
• DC motor controlled
by EDCU.

17. Emergency Egress device(EED) and
Emergency Access device(EAD)
• EAD is available 2
numbers in each cars-
1) DM car- DRR1 and
DRL1
2) T/M car- DRL2 and
DRR3
• EED is available 2 in
each DM car.
• Also EED is present in
each door at centre
hook ( Door coving
panel needs to be
opened to operate it).
18. Emergency egress device
EED is a red handle fixed on the unlocking device (central pulley) of the
door operator. No Bowden cable is needed as the handle is mechanically
linked to the operator.

There are two emergency access devices available on the outside of each car.
One device on the right and other on the left side of the car.
20. Lock-out Device
• Lock-out device is installed on
right door leaf on interior and
exterior door panel .
• It locks the door mechanically
and puts it in an out of use
state.
• Red and green dot of the lock-
out device indicates the
status of door.
The Lock-out Device is
used for any of the
following cases:
• In case of door failure,
mechanically lock the door
when door is fully closed.
• Bypass the DCS and DLS of
that door.
• To inform EDCU that this door
is out of service.

21. • Maintenance Switch
Maintenance switch is
installed on the door
operator near to the
terminal board. This
switch has two positions:
• Operate it to TEST
position, the local door
opens.
• Reset it to "NORMAL"
position, the local door
closes.
22.
23. Door lower guiding
The lower guiding prevents small objects to fall in the rail and block it.
The lower guiding of the door is a U-shape profile fixed on the car body shell.
A stainless steel sheet inserted inside the guiding rail allows an easy sliding of the door leaves.
Recessed pads are at the middle of the guiding rail in order to prevent the vibration of the door
leaves when door is closed and locked.
24. • At the center, the main beam groove (1) includes locking slots perpendicular to the drive screw (5)
and into which the rollers (2) (integral with the nuts), rotate when the door leaves have come to
the "door closed" position
Locking of the leaves is caused by the rotation of the nuts under the effect of:
The torque exerted by the electric motor on the screw in case of automatic closing.
Return spring (3) which drives each nut in case of manual closing.

25. • Types of door unlocking system:
• Automatic Unlocking
The automatic unlocking is achieved by rotation of the nut caused by the torque exerted by
the motor on the screw during automatic opening.
. Emergency Unlocking
• Release is achieved by a finger (1) articulated around the central bearing (2) of the screw and
nut system, which rotates the ball-nuts so that the guide rollers (4) are removed from the
locking slots.

27. Door Inside Light (DIL)
• DIL is used to indicate the status of the door.
• When a door is not closed and locked, the door
indicator light turns on.
• 1 DIL is installed on inside of each door.
• The indicators are
permanently
illuminated on that
side where the door is open and
flash when the door is opening
or closing.
Internal DIL is amber colour
28. Door outside indicator (DOL)
• An exterior door indicator is installed on each side of
the car at the centre of the door to indicate the status
of the door.
• The indicators are permanently
illuminated on that
side where the door is open
and flash when the door is
opening or closing.
Exterior door indicator is
amber colour.
30. Cab to Saloon Door/Partition door
• Cab to saloon Door is
mechanical hinged door
which is located between
the saloon and the cab
during non UTO mode to
create separation
between cab and
passenger saloon.In
normal operation,
opening of door from the
saloon require a special
key.
