Introduction
This system is basically concerned with the
reservation of railway tickets to the passengers.
In this we are going discuss that how the
reservation is done.
What are the rules and regulations and
procedure for reservation?
In this project we will discuss…………..
Objective of Project
All the manual work should be converted into
computerized so that the load of employees should
decrease.
The database should be stored in computer rather
than in register/manually.
Easy to store information and fast accessing of
information.
Centralized management reporting & decision support.
Accurate and timely control program.
To make it easy for fast processing and modification.
List of accounts of all customers is available.
To make the Railway system is interactive.
Quick feedback.
Concept Stage
A. Problem identification:-
Information about the route, cancellation of tickets,
departure time, arrival time, number of trains
available and other such information.
Store and retrieve information about the various
transactions related to Rail travel.
Keep track of all its passengers and thus schedule
their journey accordingly.
Maintains records of passengers travelling in the
different trains on different dates reaching different
destinations in the system.
User friendly interface to administrator and customer
B. Expectation:-
Login and Logout
Train Enquiry
Book Ticket
Payment
Check PNR Status
Cancel Ticket
Get Passenger List
C. Project Need:-
In this part we are covering all the details
related to customer required for reservation.
Customer name
Customer id
Address
Age
Gender
Phone no
D. Aim & objective:-
E. Resources:-
Hardware Requirements:
Processor : Pentium IV 2GHz and Above
RAM : 1GB
Monitor : VGA Color Monitor
Printer
CPU -Intel Core 2 Duo E7300
Hard disk -160 GB
Software Requirements:
Operating System : Windows XP onwards
Developing Tool : VB (front end)
Database : MS-ACCESS (back end)
USER INTERFACE : KEYBOARD, MOUSE
A. Planning Phase:-
The early and most critical step in completing
development, acquisition, and maintenance
projects
Project manager refine the information and
coordinate discussions between user, audit,
security, design, development, and network
Requirements Analysis Phase:-
The requirements are defined in this phase to a
level of detail sufficient for systems design to
proceed
The purposes of this phase are to:
Further define and refine the functional and
data requirements and document them in the
Requirements.
Complete business process reengineering of the
functions
Develop detailed data and process models
Develop the test and evaluation requirements
that will be used to determine acceptable
system performance.
B. Design Phase:-
Using a top-down & bottom-up approach,
designers first identify and link major
program components and interfaces.
Contemporary design techniques often use
prototyping tools that build mock-up designs of
items such as application screens, database
layouts, and system architectures.
Audit, security, and quality assurance
personnel should be involved in the review and
approval process.
B.1 Development Phase:-
The development phase involves converting
design specifications into executable programs
The large transaction-oriented programs
associated with financial institutions have
traditionally been developed
B.1 Integration and Test Phase:-
Subsystem integration, system, security, and
user acceptance testing was conducted during
test phase.
C. Implementation Phase:-
This phase is initiated after the system has
been tested and accepted by the user.
This phase continues until the system is
operating in production in accordance with the
defined user requirements.
The purpose of this phase is to:
Operate, maintain, and enhance the system.
Certify that the system can process sensitive
information.
Conduct periodic assessments of the system to
ensure the functional requirements continue to
be satisfied.
Determine when the system needs to be
modernized, replaced, or retired.
Conclusion
The passenger reservation is a complex activity
because of sheer volume and types of coaches
etc. Also transaction have a good variety. So
the CRIS and CMS have developed impress/
concert based on 3 tier server client
architecture. It has a mesh type topology with
five server system in five cities of India. Overall
it has proved to be a boon not only for
passenger but also for railways functioning
since, it generates all the report necessary for
optimization and decision making. It is an on-
line real time passenger reservation system
