Introduction
Since covid-19 pandemic started the way of teaching has changed.
The pandemic stole our freedom to socialize and go outside
whenever we want. It ends up making us live a difficult life
especially for the students. When this pandemic happens the way of
learning changes. Instead of going to school they're instructed to
stay at home. They implement online distance learning where
students need to study by themselves to the help of modular and
online classes. Prakash, P.(2021) Online class has become an
imminent trend in the education sector around the globe. The
students will study by the help of internet connections and
technologies.
Online classes and technology have emerged as a superhero during
the lockdown days. We have all been under house arrest but are still
connected with the world of education. Due to the lockdown, students
have not been able to stay connected with the outer world and the
lack of exposure is evident (Prakash, P. 2021)
According to Anh, V.N (2017)One of the goals of information
technology application in education reform is to improve the student
learning outcomes. The results of student learning are a criteria
evaluation accomplishing academic goals of the learner. Up to
now, there are two often ways to evaluate student performances:
summative assessment and formative assessment.
Statement of the problem
1. This study aims to determine the difficulties and struggles encountered by the
students of Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool during online classes.
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:
A. Age
B. Gender
C. Year level
D. Monthly Income
2. What is the Level of Academic Performance of the students in Catalino D. Cerezo
National Highschool?
3. What are the difficulties and struggles of the students during online classes?

Scope and delimitation
This study will be conducted to determine the Difficulties and
struggles of the students during online classes. The reason for the
researcher on why they choose this study is because online classes
have become a way for students to learn. It was already used
globally after the pandemic started. This study will be conducted at
Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool.
Significant of the study
They said that Education Is the key to success. It will open all the
doors for good opportunities in the near future to achieve a better life
that a person desires. Through this study the researcher will be able
to give a clearer view about the difficulties and struggles that
students experience during online classes. This study would be a
great contribution to the readers to have a wide understanding about
online classes.
Definition of terms
● Socialize- a continuing process whereby an individual acquires a personal
identity and learns the norms, values, behavior, and social skills appropriate to
his or her social position.
● Online Classes- it is an education that takes place over the internet. Often
referred to as "E-learning" among others. It is also a term for any learning that
takes place across distance learning and not in a traditional classroom.
● Students- a person enrolled in a school or other educational institution and who
is learning with goals and acquiring knowledge, developing professions and
achieving employment in a desired field.
● Students Learning outcomes- it is a statement that specify what Students will
know, be able to do or be able to demonstrate when they have completed or
participated in a Course or program.
Related, Review of literature
Online education is an education using internet connection which is sometimes
referred to as "E-learning ". E-learning is defined as a new paradigm of online
learning based on information technology (Moore et al., 2011).It has been applied
before the pandemic happened. This enables the teacher and students to set their
own learning pace. It will also give you a flexible schedule to do some things.Online
learning is rapidly becoming one of the most effective ways to impart education. The
impact of the virus was so strong that online education became a seemingly
ubiquitous part of our growing world, which resulted in the closure of schools and no
further physical interaction of teachers with students. Fortunately, soon enough most
of the schools and educational institutions moved to online mode to resume their
studies. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of
e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely on digital platforms instead of
physical classrooms, Prakash, P.(2021)
This pandemic has created a massive disruption of the educational systems, affecting
over 1.5 billion students. It has forced the government to cancel national examinations
and the schools to temporarily close, cease face-to-face instruction, and strictly
observe physical distancing, Barrot et Al. (2021).Online classes has become a way of
learning in which students instructed to download a software where they can do and
send their activities and attend classes online.(Shehzadi et al., 2020)UNESCO
recommends distance learning programs and open educational applications during
school closure caused by COVID-19 so that schools and teachers use to teach their
pupils and bound the interruption of education.
These events have sparked the digital transformation of higher education
and challenged its ability to respond promptly and effectively. Schools
adopted relevant technologies, prepared learning and staff resources, set
systems and infrastructure, established new teaching protocols, and
adjusted their curricula, Barrot, et al.(2021). Using technologies for online
education the students and teachers must have a stable internet
connection that will enable them to access software without hindrance.
Slow internet connections will cause the students to have a low academic
performance.
According to Hampton “Digital skills are related to proficiency in a range of domains
beyond simple technology use, including language and computation. Better home
Internet access contributes to diverse technology use and higher digital skills,”
.However, the transition was smooth for some schools but rough for others,
particularly those from developing countries with limited infrastructure (Pham &
Nguyen, 2020; Simbulan, 2020). Technology is a major cause for concern as stu-
dents with outdated devices may not be able to download newer software that
demands a higher computer specification, and therefore their learning process is
impeded Husam et Al.(2021)
Therefore, many institutes go for the online classes According to
research conducted by Rahayu et al. (2017), it has been proven that the
use of various types of software increases the effectiveness and quality
of online learning. Implementation of online learning can affect students'
ability to adapt to technological developments in that it makes students
use various learning resources on the internet to access various types of
information, and enables them to get used to performing inquiry learning
and active learning (Hart et al., 2019; Prestiadi et al., 2019).
Research design
Considering the purpose of this research which investigates the
difficulties and struggles encountered by the students of Catalino D.
Cerezo National Highschool, the researcher decided to use
descriptive research design. This method describes the profile of the
respondents in terms of age, gender, year level and their monthly
income.
Population sampling and locale
In this study the respondents will be the Grade 9-12 students of
Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool who are enrolled in the year
2021-2022. The total number of the respondents will be selected
through the use of stratified random sampling. It is the process of
subdividing the population in subgroups of stratum.
Data Gathering Instrument
The Data Gathering Instrument that the researcher will use will be
the questionnaire. It will consist of items regarding the profile of the
respondents that includes age, gender, year level and monthly
income . For the safety of the respondents the researcher decides to
distribute the questionnaire in a Google form.
Data Gathering Procedure
After the validation of the instruments, the researcher must seek
permission first from the respondents before distributing the questionnaire
to avoid disturbance. The researcher will also discuss the significance of
the research for the respondents to have a clear understanding of the
study.

  • 2. Introduction Since covid-19 pandemic started the way of teaching has changed. The pandemic stole our freedom to socialize and go outside whenever we want. It ends up making us live a difficult life especially for the students. When this pandemic happens the way of learning changes. Instead of going to school they're instructed to stay at home. They implement online distance learning where students need to study by themselves to the help of modular and online classes. Prakash, P.(2021) Online class has become an imminent trend in the education sector around the globe. The students will study by the help of internet connections and technologies.
  • 3. Online classes and technology have emerged as a superhero during the lockdown days. We have all been under house arrest but are still connected with the world of education. Due to the lockdown, students have not been able to stay connected with the outer world and the lack of exposure is evident (Prakash, P. 2021) According to Anh, V.N (2017)One of the goals of information technology application in education reform is to improve the student learning outcomes. The results of student learning are a criteria evaluation accomplishing academic goals of the learner. Up to now, there are two often ways to evaluate student performances: summative assessment and formative assessment.
  • 4. Statement of the problem 1. This study aims to determine the difficulties and struggles encountered by the students of Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool during online classes. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions: What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: A. Age B. Gender C. Year level D. Monthly Income 2. What is the Level of Academic Performance of the students in Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool? 3. What are the difficulties and struggles of the students during online classes?

  • 6. Scope and delimitation This study will be conducted to determine the Difficulties and struggles of the students during online classes. The reason for the researcher on why they choose this study is because online classes have become a way for students to learn. It was already used globally after the pandemic started. This study will be conducted at Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool.
  • 7. Significant of the study They said that Education Is the key to success. It will open all the doors for good opportunities in the near future to achieve a better life that a person desires. Through this study the researcher will be able to give a clearer view about the difficulties and struggles that students experience during online classes. This study would be a great contribution to the readers to have a wide understanding about online classes.
  • 8. Definition of terms ● Socialize- a continuing process whereby an individual acquires a personal identity and learns the norms, values, behavior, and social skills appropriate to his or her social position. ● Online Classes- it is an education that takes place over the internet. Often referred to as "E-learning" among others. It is also a term for any learning that takes place across distance learning and not in a traditional classroom. ● Students- a person enrolled in a school or other educational institution and who is learning with goals and acquiring knowledge, developing professions and achieving employment in a desired field. ● Students Learning outcomes- it is a statement that specify what Students will know, be able to do or be able to demonstrate when they have completed or participated in a Course or program.
  • 9. Related, Review of literature Online education is an education using internet connection which is sometimes referred to as "E-learning ". E-learning is defined as a new paradigm of online learning based on information technology (Moore et al., 2011).It has been applied before the pandemic happened. This enables the teacher and students to set their own learning pace. It will also give you a flexible schedule to do some things.Online learning is rapidly becoming one of the most effective ways to impart education. The impact of the virus was so strong that online education became a seemingly ubiquitous part of our growing world, which resulted in the closure of schools and no further physical interaction of teachers with students. Fortunately, soon enough most of the schools and educational institutions moved to online mode to resume their studies. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely on digital platforms instead of physical classrooms, Prakash, P.(2021)
  • 10. This pandemic has created a massive disruption of the educational systems, affecting over 1.5 billion students. It has forced the government to cancel national examinations and the schools to temporarily close, cease face-to-face instruction, and strictly observe physical distancing, Barrot et Al. (2021).Online classes has become a way of learning in which students instructed to download a software where they can do and send their activities and attend classes online.(Shehzadi et al., 2020)UNESCO recommends distance learning programs and open educational applications during school closure caused by COVID-19 so that schools and teachers use to teach their pupils and bound the interruption of education.
  • 11. These events have sparked the digital transformation of higher education and challenged its ability to respond promptly and effectively. Schools adopted relevant technologies, prepared learning and staff resources, set systems and infrastructure, established new teaching protocols, and adjusted their curricula, Barrot, et al.(2021). Using technologies for online education the students and teachers must have a stable internet connection that will enable them to access software without hindrance. Slow internet connections will cause the students to have a low academic performance.
  • 12. According to Hampton “Digital skills are related to proficiency in a range of domains beyond simple technology use, including language and computation. Better home Internet access contributes to diverse technology use and higher digital skills,” .However, the transition was smooth for some schools but rough for others, particularly those from developing countries with limited infrastructure (Pham & Nguyen, 2020; Simbulan, 2020). Technology is a major cause for concern as stu- dents with outdated devices may not be able to download newer software that demands a higher computer specification, and therefore their learning process is impeded Husam et Al.(2021)
  • 13. Therefore, many institutes go for the online classes According to research conducted by Rahayu et al. (2017), it has been proven that the use of various types of software increases the effectiveness and quality of online learning. Implementation of online learning can affect students' ability to adapt to technological developments in that it makes students use various learning resources on the internet to access various types of information, and enables them to get used to performing inquiry learning and active learning (Hart et al., 2019; Prestiadi et al., 2019).
  • 14. Research design Considering the purpose of this research which investigates the difficulties and struggles encountered by the students of Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool, the researcher decided to use descriptive research design. This method describes the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, year level and their monthly income.
  • 15. Population sampling and locale In this study the respondents will be the Grade 9-12 students of Catalino D. Cerezo National Highschool who are enrolled in the year 2021-2022. The total number of the respondents will be selected through the use of stratified random sampling. It is the process of subdividing the population in subgroups of stratum.
  • 16. Data Gathering Instrument The Data Gathering Instrument that the researcher will use will be the questionnaire. It will consist of items regarding the profile of the respondents that includes age, gender, year level and monthly income . For the safety of the respondents the researcher decides to distribute the questionnaire in a Google form.
  • 17. Data Gathering Procedure After the validation of the instruments, the researcher must seek permission first from the respondents before distributing the questionnaire to avoid disturbance. The researcher will also discuss the significance of the research for the respondents to have a clear understanding of the study.
