LEGAL?
RosEA Legal is the University’s
Legal English Area, which
focuses on creating and delivering
two general services Legal ASK
and Legal English Courses.
3. Legal
English
Courses• Legal English Courses is one of RosEA´s (Rosario English
Area) branches, created to support the Faculty of
Jurisprudence, where students, graduates and alumni have
the opportunity to practice their English skills in legal
contexts.
• Each course is 30 hours long.
• To take any of these courses you must have minimum a
certified B1.
• For students in the malla curricular, all courses are under
HM elective and worth 1 credit.
• For the public (teachers, alumni, externals) schedules are
flexible - morning or night, weekdays or
weekends. The cost of each 30 hour course is
$960.000 . Teachers, alumni, and convenios
have a special discount.
• At the end of each course you will receive a certificate from
Universidad del Rosario.

5. The Legal English Skills Course provides the
necessary speaking and language
skills to interview clients, deliver
presentations, participate in conference
calls, differentiate formal from informal
language, and properly use body language to
develop confidence and professionalism to
engage in legal communication.

6. This Legal English course focuses
on incorporating some of the
most important writing skills
and style parameters for an
adequate use of legal language
and a coherent development of
ideas.

7. In this practical course, participants
work on the proper use of the
English language including
terminology and grammar structures
in every step of a contract; cover
page, table of contents, defined
terms, beginning, middle and end.

8. This short-course uses the contract
itself as the focus of analysis.
Participants have the opportunity to
work on a "real world" pre-written
agreement in a Colombian setting
and receive direct feedback on their
progress.

9. Case Analysis is a fascinating case-
study course focusing on the
American legal system. Analysis of
cases requires patience and a strong
attention to detail. Participants who
take this course will be exposed to
the American judicial system and
case reporting. A high level of English
is required for this Master's level
subject.

10. Legal ASK

different areas pertaining to legal contexts.
• Our services are FREE for anybody who is part
of the Rosario Community (student, teacher,
alumni, funcionario, convenio).

Services
• Personal tutoring for teachers, students and alumni on legal
topics.
• Personal tutoring for students participating in international
competitions representing the University.
• In class workshops for students who attend Jurisprudence
classes in English.
• In class workshops for students that receive readings in
English in their jurisprudence classes.
• Assisting teachers and alumni with translating legal texts.
• Assisting teachers and alumni with proofreading and editing
legal texts (contracts, thesis, research projects, thesis, etc.)
• OTHER: Assisting students, teachers and alumni with
Statements of Purpose (when applying abroad), CVs,
resumés, presentations, emails, and general support related
to academic and professional life in legal contexts.
13. PAOLA CASTELLANOS LOPEZ
Paola is a Legal English teacher at Universidad del Rosario
and at the law firm Brigard & Urrutia. She has experience
teaching General and Legal English for all ages and levels. She
is a graduate lawyer from Universidad del Rosario who
was raised abroad and because of this grew up bilingual. In
2015 Paola certified herself as an English teacher -CELTA-
with University of Cambridge.
14. MARIA DEL PILAR CRUZ
Maria del Pilar Cruz is lawyer with a postgraduate
degree in Commercial Law from Universidad Externado
de Colombia. She holds a Master’s Degree in
International Law and Business from Stetson University
College of Law in the United States and studied English
as a Second Language at University of Toronto in
Canada.
