Paul writes to the saints in Rome expressing his desire to visit them to impart spiritual gifts and strengthen their faith. He gives thanks for their faith and prays for opportunity to encourage them. His goal is for believers to be unified in glorifying God with one mind and one mouth through agreeing with the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture. Paul feels obligated to preach the gospel to all people, whether Greeks, Barbarians, wise or unwise. He is committed to spreading the gospel message as much as possible.

2. Paul is at Corinth in Greece, writing to the saints in Rome. He prays without ceasing for them, and gives God thanks for them and their faith. And he prays that he will have opportunity and a prosperous journey to visit them.

3. Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; 12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. We should be always eager to impart to others that with which God has blessed us.

4. "To the end ye may be established." Paul was well established in his walk with the Lord. Therefore , he could help others. We can only share what we have first received.

We should readily impart to others what God has trusted to us, rejoicing to make others joyful, especially taking pleasure in communing with those who believe the same things with us. Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary. Our greatest pleasure should be talking about God's Way of living and the blessings of it. Not always a debate ; an agreeable discussion, because we believe the same thngs.

6. Romans 15 5-6 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We don't glorify God when we fuss and argue. We glorify God when we agree with Jesus , through The Word of God . If I agree with Jesus , and you agree with Jesus , then we agree with one another .

Galatians 5 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in One Word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

8. Whose company we most enjoy is a good standard for measuring ourselves in our walk with God. 2 Corinthians 6 14 … what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Out of place

9. 13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let [ prevented ] hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. Paul was prevented from going to Rome to that time, Because he was busy doing the Lord's Will.

10. 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. Paul didn't owe money , and wasn't hindered from the Lord's Will by that kind of debt. God had given him a job to do: Take the Gospel to all kinds of people. He owed them all that ministry. He would get to Rome eventually.

11. Do you feel the weight of that kind of debt? We owe our Lord our best effort in His service. We owe people the benefit of our gifts.

12. 15 So, as much as in me is , I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also. Let's join the Apostle Paul today in that kind of commitment . With all that in me is -- all my heart and soul, With all my time and strength and energy, Will all my abilities and gifts from God,

13. Isaiah 6 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

14. Psalms 84 10 For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. The most humble job in God's service is to be preferred over the greatest job in the world .

15. 2 Corinthians 12 10 (NIV) That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Are you willing to suffer for the sake of the cause of Christ?

16. It is time for each Christian to get his foot on the Rock , Christ Jesus, And his mind made up to serve the Lord, Some decisions should not have to be repeatedly made. A person who has a job doesn't ask each morning , "Am I going to get up and go to work today?"

17. The smallest job done well is better than the greatest job done poorly. Colossians 3 23 And what-soever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Romans 12 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
