This document is a multi-part message about humbling oneself before God and dedicating one's life to his service. It contains several Bible verses exhorting believers to humble themselves under God's hand and draw near to him. It also includes passages encouraging Christians to forsake all things for Christ and present their bodies as living sacrifices to God rather than conforming to worldly desires. The overall message is that to be successful in faith, one must learn humility before God and commit fully to laying down their life in service to him.

As Christians we can ask ourselves: What kind of progress are we making? The same could be asked of the church where we attend. Paul was concerned about the "progress of the gospel" - Philippians 1. Do we exhibit the same kind of concern today?

Jesus tells the parable of a King who invites people to a wedding banquet. Who is this king, and how should we interpret this parable? This sermon explores two options for how to understand the invitation to which Jesus refers.
1 Cor 1:17-18 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I beseech you – beg, urge, encourage, appeal
By the mercies of God – compassion
Present your bodies a living sacrifice – as opposed to a sacrifice of death
Holy, Acceptable to God – pure, without spot or blemish
Your reasonable service – since Christ died for us we should live our lives for him. 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
Warning Signs are put up for a reason. A simple look at this passage may challenge what you believe. If your belief doesn't line up with God's word then change your belief. Dead works are those actions we take of our own initiative in order to appease the wrath of God (or even gods). These are failures to understand God and salvation. It is only in the free gift of grace through Jesus Christ that we can be saved.
Purity of mind, heart, body and life is challenging, but attainable in today's culture. Join us over the next 90 days as we explore this topic, and how Christians can become purer in every aspect of their lives.

Philippians 1:12-14 Magnifying Christ. John said Jesus must increase and he must decrease. Christians should be magnifying Christ and diminishing themselves. We do this by defending the gospel, preaching Christ, trusting Christ, living without shame, living for Christ, producing fruit, desiring to be with Him, Putting others needs first, fellowshipping fellow christians, working together with other christians.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Philippians 2:5-8
5 (A) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 (B) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 (C) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in
the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, (D) he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Part 4
Step D There Are Two Things That Each Christian Must Learn In Order To Be Successful.
First — We Christians must learn to humble ourselves before God!
Micah 6:7-8 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands
of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the
sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the
LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly
with thy God?
James 4:8-10 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye
sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and
weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble
yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he
may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Second — We Christians must lay down the rest of ours lives for the service of God!
James 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city,
and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not
what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth
for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will,
we shall live, and do this, or that.
Philippians 3:7-8 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of
Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count
them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Philippians 1:21-24 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the
flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a
strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 4 KJV
