New York City Department of Probation, NYC, NY 11/15-Pres
Acting Assistant Commissioner: Plans, directs and administers the activities of a borough’s Adult Court Services. Plans
for the effective management and delivery of probation services for Supreme and Criminal Court in both the preparation of
Investigation and Supervision reports and the provision of effective supervision services. Provides direction and
consultation to management personnel responsible for the delivery of Adult Court Services. Participates in the
development, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of new and existing policies and procedures for Adult Court
Services within the areas of assignment. Serves as a liaison and acting representative in matters involving the Criminal and
Supreme Courts, the District Attorney and other law enforcement agencies. Assisted in establishing the department’s
Adolescent/Young Adult unit and supervision model.
New York City Department of Probation, NYC, NY 4/05 – 11/15
Branch Chief: Plan, direct and supervise the operation of the Queen Neighborhood Opportunity Network and previously
the Queens Client Development Branch, the Kings County Intensive Engagement Branch and initially, the Manhattan
Client Development Branch. Each branch consists of two to four units of six probation officers, their supervisors and
support staff. The Queens Neighborhood Opportunity Network has embedded itself in the South Jamaica and Far Rockaway
neighborhoods by connecting with political community leaders, NYCHA Tenant Associations, local elementary and high
school personnel and community based programs to re-vitalize these neighborhoods. Branch activities are monitored to
ensure that departmental and branch policies are effectively implemented. Reports are prepared and reviewed on the status
of cases in the branch. Advice is given to and conferences are held with the Supervising Probation Officers on branch
administration matters. Probation policy and procedures are interpreted to Supervising Probation Officers, and Judges.
Staff is deployed to cover shortages and ensure that productivity standards and objectives are met.
New York City Department of Probation, NYC, NY 4/99 – 4/05
Supervising Probation Officer: Supervised Probation Officers in the Kings County Adult Supervision Intake Unit, the
Kings County Adult Services Interstate Compact Unit, the Red Hook Community Justice Center, and the department’s
Centralized Inter-Intrastate Compact Unit. Assisted in creating the departmental protocol for the Centralized Inter-
Intrastate Compact unit. Implemented protocol for the Centralized Inter-Intra-state Compact Unit. Established tasks,
functions, and priorities for the unit. Trained the department in the rules and regulations of NYS DPCA, ICAOS, and
ICOTS. Functioned as New York City Adult Services Transfer Designee on all Inter and Intra-state transfers. Developed
and maintained excellent relationships with the other Transfer Designees in the metropolitan area, and the NYS DPCA
staff. Collected and maintained data regarding unit workload in order to perform regular statistical analysis for
management reporting. Interacted with members of staff, representatives of criminal justice system, social service agencies,
and others to discuss, interpret and clarify matters relating to departmental policies and procedures. Directed and
coordinated the apprehension and detainment of probationers with active bench, and arrest warrants. Directed the
investigation of all incoming transfer requests from other jurisdictions to NYC. Reviewed work performed by the probation
officers for accuracy, thoroughness and judgment. Insured the appropriateness of all recommendations to the court.
Identified strengths and weaknesses of each probation officer; and provide specific training in needed areas. Prepared
periodic written staff evaluations.
New York City Department of Probation, NYC, NY 5/96 - 4/99
Probation Officer: Monitored a caseload of 140 individuals sentenced to a term of probation by the Supreme and Criminal
courts. Prepared written reports and recommendations, including Violations of Probation and Pre-sentence Investigations for
defendants with Probation sentence promises. Referred probationers to social service, governmental or community agencies,
which may assist in the probationer's rehabilitation. Performed field visits to the homes of individuals under supervision and
corresponded with/made collateral visits to probationer's relatives, community agencies, employers, schools, law enforcement
agencies for monitoring as well as investigative purposes. Detained or arrested probationers wanted by law enforcement
agencies, those observed to in violation of their conditions of probation, and some actually engaged in criminal activity.
Submitted monthly statistical reports for management analysis. Testified in Supreme and Criminal court Violation of Probation
2. hearings as a department witness.
New York City Administration for Children’s Services, NYC, NY 7/95 - 5/96
Child Protective Services Investigator: Investigated allegations of child abuse, and neglect. Investigations accomplished via
telephone conferences, and home visits. Removed endangered children from unsafe situations, and placed them in more secure
environments. Performed database research and clearances on all alleged child abuse perpetrators to obtain background
information that maybe useful in ongoing investigations.
New York City Administration for Children’s Services, NYC, NY 10/90 - 7/95
Casework Supervisor: Supervised a unit consisting of six caseworkers. Reviewed and assessed the court reviews, foster home
re-certifications, and service plans submitted by those caseworkers. Compiled monthly status reports of caseworker duties for
submission to supervisor. Reviewed case records to insure accuracy and completion of client services. Completed annual
performance evaluations for each member of casework unit. Interfaced with Legal, Medical, and Social Service officials to
coordinate client services.
New York City Administration for Children’s Services, NYC, NY 4/89-10/90
Caseworker: Supervised a caseload of 35 children placed in foster homes via Article 10 of the Family Court Act. Provided
counseling and referral services for those children, their biological and foster parents. Testified in Family Court hearings as a
witness for the Administration for Children’s Services.
