Projects
Oversee a team of 15 employees and multiple vendors to ensure 100% uptime for this Fortune
500 oil and gas exploration company operating in several Southwestern states. Support hardware
for three primary sites and 26 remote locations. Maintained adequate staffing to support 24 / 7
operations of primary offices, remote offices and drilling locations. Hold responsibility for
Project Budgeting/approving invoices, managing vendors, determining IT needs and directing
large-scale projects. Provided LAN, WAN and Internet support for 1,200+ users in various
locations.
 Present annual IT Initiative and budgetary information to Executive Management, IT
Governance board and present new IT projects to Senior Management of Business Units
within Cimarex including negotiating cost accounting by department, business alignment
and service levels.
 Provide Infrastructure planning and roadmaps to support continually increasing
connectivity needs for drilling support and Production SCADA monitoring connectivity.
 Improved staff retention and productivity by expanding training programs, providing
career guidance and maintaining open communication.
 Successfully negotiated “preferred customer” pricing with vendors such as Cisco, Belden
and TW Telecom to save an average of 10%+ per project.
 Credited with maintaining 99.995% uptime overall and 99.9999% uptime in three main
locations by securing aggressive SLA agreements with vendors of wide area circuits,
ensuring staff are properly trained and keeping equipment up to the latest patch level and
Cisco Safe Harbor IOS code bases.

Datacenter to APC In-Row Cooling Infrastructure and Hot Isle Containment Systems;

 Created an MPLS mesh topology network resilient enough to support growth from four
offices to seven during an acquisition and then back to three without major rebuilding of
routing or IP address tables.
 Took the initiative to replace old equipment with equipment from closed sites to provide
company with best possible equipment while reselling over $300,000 of retired or
unnecessary equipment.
 Headed Information Systems design and implementation of multiple construction
projects for Cimarex including a 17 story Ground Up construction in Tulsa, four story
build out of corporate offices in Denver and multiple IT support field initiatives.
 Established a preferred vendor list to expedite selection and avoid issues; efforts have
prevented any delay by data or IT issues for new build occupancy schedules the past

Network Engineer III, Infrastructure Team
 Provided LAN, WAN and Internet support for 1,015 users across 20+ locations with
responsibility for defining specifications, evaluating configurations, ensuring uptime and
maintaining current IS and patch levels.
 Spearheaded design and implementation of a Datacenter solution that utilized APC
InfrastuXure rack and cooling systems technology for 75% increase in usable rack space
and only 30% increase in floor space footprint.
 Drove implementation of a MPLS solution that connected seven locations, ensuring on-
time completion and minimal downtime through accurate scheduling and planning.

 Selected for a nine month contract to rollout new sites and refresh existing sites during
purchase of MCI by WorldCom which increased Novell Servers from 2,800 to 6,500,
client desktops from 12,000 to 30,000 and locations from 150 to almost 600. Project

 Completed all equipment rollouts on time and within budget by effectively training and

 Converted over 5,000 user accounts from WorldCom’s Novell GroupWise Mail system

 Oversaw IT operations while also ensuring accuracy of accounting and financial
reporting for this $24+ million company. Created and reviewed budgets, identified cost
