Rock-paper-scissors is a hand game usually played by two people forming one of three shapes - a fist (rock), two fingers extended (scissors), or an open hand (paper). Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, and paper beats rock. If both players throw the same shape, the game is tied. Players face off and throw their shape on a count, with the objective being to select a shape that defeats the opponent's shape according to the rock-paper-scissors rules. Although typically a children's game, in 2002 standard international rules were established, allowing some to make money by playing the game professionally.
