Roadside Hazard Management aims to efficiently deliver programs to improve safety, environmental and cultural values, and amenity and access. It involves identifying, prioritizing, and treating roadside hazards to maximize safety by reducing the incidence and severity of crashes. Elements of the roadside that can pose hazards include shoulders, signs, batters, and clear zones. Different approaches are needed for managing hazards on new road projects versus existing roads due to feasibility and cost considerations.
