This document outlines key elements of accessibility and inclusion from an Australian perspective. It discusses Australia's adoption of disability rights legislation like the Disability Discrimination Act of 1992 and ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2008. The National Disability Strategy aims to meet Australia's obligations under the CRPD. Legislation and building codes work to improve accessibility of the physical environment, transportation, information and communications. However, accessible housing remains a priority area. The presentation also discusses Rehabilitation International's role in advancing global rights and inclusion for people with disabilities in line with the social model of disability.
