DEFINITION
risk management is defined as the process of
identifying, monitoring and managing
potential risks in order to minimize the
negative impact they may have on an
organization. Examples of potential risks
include security breaches, data loss,
cyberattacks, system failures and natural
disasters
3. RISK ASSESSMENT?
A Risk Assessment is simply a careful
examination of what, in your work, could
cause harm to people, so that you can weigh
up whether you have taken enough
precautions or should do more to prevent
harm.

4. ANOTHER DEFINITION
Risk assessment is a term used to describe the
overall process or method where you: Identify
hazards and risk factors that have the potential
to cause harm (hazard identification). Analyze
and evaluate the risk associated with that hazard
(risk analysis, and risk evaluation)

6. TYPES OF RISK
ASSESSMENTS
Qualitative: Object probability estimate based upon
known risk information applied the circumstances being
considered.
Quantitative: This type is subjective, based upon
personal judgement backed by generalised data risk.
7. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DOING
THE RISK ASSESSMENTS ?
Your Organisations health and Safety policy will
outline who is responsible for completing the
risk assessments.
In a school the overall responsibility for
ensuring risk assessments are completed is that
of the Headteacher and Governing Body.
However Heads of individual departments will
most likely be responsible for ensuring that all
reasonably foreseeable significant risks are
assessed and managed effectively. There will
also be a line of accountability to the
Headteacher and Governing Body outlined in the
policy.
9. RISK CONTROL DEFINITION
are actions taken to eliminate, prevent or
reduce the occurrence of a hazard that you
have identified. By adopting risk control
measures, you are aiming to reduce the risks
to health and safety so far as is reasonably
practicable
