apply to control the hazard
Transport/
Travel/
Traffic
Due to the model living relatively far from the
photoshoot location, the model arriving on
time could be an issue.
The model could be late which would result
in losing natural daylight.
If daylight would be lost it would affect the
photo quality.
I will attempt to gather camera equipment
and try to meet with the model at an
earlier time.
Weather/
Temperature
Cold temperatures and rain. Rain causing the floor to be slippery and
dangerous.
Injuries from travelling on wet, slippery floors.
Cold temperatures causing photos to appear
awkward/ affecting the model’s pose and
comfort.
To choose a day where bad weather
conditions are at a minimal.
Terrain Walking on rocky floors and attempting to
pose on uneven ground.
The model slipping/ not being able to
position themselves naturally on the ground.
Preventing the positioning of the model from
being direct to the camera e.g. if I need the
model to be central in the image.
I will try to choose the most even floors to
photograph the model and try to avoid
making them travel on rocky floors.
Working near
water
The model/ camera equipment/ the
photographer (me) may potentially fall into
the water.
Getting the camera equipment wet/
damaging it. Injuries from anyone if they fell
into the water.
Injuries from slipping to extremes such as
drowning for people involved. Damaging the
camera equipment.
I will try and plan routes to the photo
locations which involve navigating around
ponds/ other water sources.
Poor visibility
/night working
Loss of daylight resulting in poor visibility. Not being able to see where to walk/ camera
becoming unable to take high quality images.
Falling during the poor light conditions/ not
being able to produce images with good lighting.
I will try to begin the photoshoot in good
lighting conditions as early as possible to
avoid losing daylight.
Glass/Sharp
objects
As we will be taking photos in a used garden,
there will be old lights and other sharp
objects positioned around the garden floor.
Anyone involved is at risk of standing on
these objects and injuring themselves.
Glass/sharp objects may injure people
walking around the photoshoot location.
This could interfere with the photoshoot and
prevent progress if somebody is injured.
I will need to ensure everyone working in
the location is careful and aware of any
objects on the floor. I will need to avoid
taking images in any dangerous places.
Equipment Damaging/ dropping equipment. Breaking any equipment. Needing to repair/ pay for any damaged
property, causing a reduction in money.
I will need to ensure anyone handling
equipment handles it with care to
minimise accidents.
Steps Tripping up and down steps which could
injure people/ damage equipment if
somebody trips whilst holding anything.
Injuries from anyone who may fall/ breaking
anything if these same people are carrying
any equipment.
Loss of money from having to repair/replace any
damaged equipment. Loss of time if I need to
replace anybody who is injured/ wait for them
to recover.
I will try and plan routes which do not
require moving on steps/ I will ensure
everyone travelling around the set is
aware of any steps and takes precautions
when walking up and down them.

Transport/
Travel/
Traffic
The model being stuck in traffic and
therefore arriving late for the
photoshoot.
Losing time to photograph the
model.
Cameras losing battery/
wasting time waiting for
the model to arrive.
Setting up the photoshoot
in advance so that if the
model is late, the
photoshoot session can
begin as soon as possible.
Ensure I charge all cameras
and only using them once
the model arrives.
Poor visibility
/night working
Losing natural light from the windows
and being forced to work in a dim
room, relying solely on artificial light.
Not being able to take photos in
high-lighting situations.
Photos being dimly lit/
poor quality photos
produced from the bad
lighting.
As the photoshoot is
indoors, I will be able to use
artificial light even if it
becomes dark outside.
Equipment Dropping/ damaging equipment at
any time during the photoshoot.
Losing battery charge on cameras.
Lighting not functioning.
Losing time for taking photos if
anything becomes damaged.
Not being able to take images if
cameras are low on battery.
Having to replace/fix
any damaged camera
equipment. Not being
able to photograph in
poor lighting
conditions.
I will need to ensure all
cameras are fully charged
and to check beforehand
that the lighting is fully
functional for the desired
images.
Steps Taking the equipment up two flights of
stairs to the photoshoot location/
tripping/ dropping equipment.
Any people involved in the
photoshoot becoming injured
after falls. Damaging any
equipment.
Losing time from
recovering people/
replacing anyone who
becomes injured.
I will need to ensure
everyone is careful whilst
handling equipment and
travelling up and down
stairs.
