Risk Assessment
Name Charlotte, Hannah and Marie ___________
Project Recipe Cards
Location Marie’s Kitchen
Hazard Person(s) / Equipment at
Risk
Risk Control Taken
Camera Cable
All three of us as we might
trip up on the cables.
If the camera is attached to
the cable then it’s more likely
to fall and break if we are not
aware of this.
Our camera might easily
break which means we can’t
do our photography work. By
being aware of these
dangers is key.
After weighing up the risks
and have looked into
possible ways to make sure
that we have addressed
these hazards and we have
made the right safety
precautions these issues are
less likely to happen.
Make sure the cables are not
near any water or in the way
of where we are walking. We
will tape the wires to the
ground so it’s less likely for
us to trip over them. This
means we can move around
the kitchen easily. We will
make sure that the camera
isn’t connected to the cable,
this means it will not break.
We will make sure that the
camera has a neck strap to
prevent accidents with the
camera.
If we were to drop the
camera we would have to
use another camera and pay
to get the other one repaired,
or if the damage wasn’t so
severe the camera could be
put back together are used
again.
Electricity/gas
We will be in a house so it’s
likely for us to be near
electricity and gas. When
cooking, we might leave the
gas on by accident which
could make the house
explode which would be very
dangerous. We might leave
machinery on which means it
could cause a fire due to, too
much electricity going
through.
The only thing that is gas in
household is the hob, which
we wont, be using therefore
gas isn’t such a big issue
We will make sure that all the
plugs are turned off when we
are finished with the
machinery; this means it can
be a safer environment. We
will also turn off all the gas
appliances so that we don’t
leak out any gas that isn’t
needed. If an accident was to
happen and wasn’t so big we
could throw a bucket of water
of the fire to put it out,
however if this was a more
serious issue we could have
to evacuate the building and
call 999.
Creative Media Production
and is less likely to happen.
We will make sure the
sockets are turned off
making it less likely for an
accident to happen
Fire
When involving fire we might
burn ourselves because we
will be using ovens as they
are very hot. Baking trays will
also be very hot because
they have been in the oven.
The possibilities of such a
situation is unlikely because
we re timing all the recipes
meaning nothing should be
left in the oven to burn or
anything left switched on.
We will make sure that we
use oven gloves to protect
our hands from any fire or
heat from the ovens. We will
also double check the
temperatures in which the
foods need to be cooked at
so that it doesn’t overheat
and catch fire. We will make
sure that we don’t use a wet
towel when collecting our
food products as it would
burn our hands. We would
also clean dishes so we
would have a separate towel
for both cleaning and
collecting the food. If one of
our group members were to
burn themselves we would
take immediate action and
run the burn under cold
water to help prevent
blistering. But if there was to
be a fire caused we would
evacuate the building and
call 999
Machinery
We will be using food
processes which are
dangerous as we might hurt
ourselves with them. We will
also be using whisks which
are bad as they are very fast
moving which can be
dangerous for ourselves. We
will use ovens and a hob
which both use electricity
and gas.
The likelihood of issues
surrounding machinery is not
very likely because are
fingers wont be any where
near the blades of some of
the machinery such as the
food processer, and also he
fact that we have been
educated, and are sensible
enough not to go near fast
moving or sharp object which
could put ourselves in
danger or those around us.
We will make sure that our
hair is tied back and that we
don’t have any nail varnish
on as that will chip into the
food.
We will make sure that lid is
on the food processor so that
the food doesn’t go all over
the kitchen, this would be
unhygienic and a waste of
food.
We will make sure that we
turn of all appliances once
finished with.
If any of our body parts were
to get stuck in the mixer we
would turn the machine of
straight way and then
analyse the situation to then
take the best course of
action whether this involves
first aid or hospital
assistance. Such issues
could be surround hair,
Creative Media Production
clothing or hands getting
stuck within the machine.
Materials
We will be using glass, wood
and metal. Each of these
materials causes damage to
a human either by cutting
ourselves or getting splinters
in our skin. We are at risk
because of the different
materials that we will be
using for the different food
products. It s more likely
when considering other
dangers and hazards that
this is to happen such as
dropping any bowls or
utensils
We will make sure that all the
wrapping of the food will go
straight in the bin so that we
don’t trip up on the
packaging. By preventing
this it means we will not hurt
ourselves easier.
If we get a splinter in our
hands then we will use
tweezers to remove the
wood then we will use
disinfectant cream and then
we will put on a plaster, this
will prevent infection. If we
were to cut ourselves or
injure ourselves we would
clean the wound the cover
with a plaster to prevent
infection and any issues
when it comes to containing
making the recipes.
Vehicles
We will be using public
transport, Hannah will be
using a train and then a bus
to Marie’s House, and this
might be dangerous as I will
have to walk across roads to
get to the bus or train station.
Charlotte will be getting the
bus which means she would
also have to cross busy
roads. By travelling like this it
will cause pollution. Marie
will be walking towards the
bus stop; this will also be
dangerous for the same
reasons. We feel that such a
problem is very unlikely to
happen because we are
sensible people and have
had years of experience near
busy roads and city centres.
When we are walking we will
make sure to look both ways
so that we are safer. We will
make sure that we aren’t
listening to any music, this
would be better as we will be
able to listen to the traffic
better.
We will make sure that we
are a distance from the bus
and trains so that we don’t
get hurt by fast moving
objects.
We will make sure that we
have plenty of time to catch
our trains and buses
because we wouldn’t want to
rush, this would make sure
more likely prone to fall.
Food Poisoning
So this could effect either the
customer if they were to eat
the products we have made
within this unhygienic
environment. We could also
become from been near
these products because we
are within this working
environment, as well as
We will make sure that all the
products used will be clean
so that there are no bacteria
left on the food products. We
will also make sure that the
work surfaces are all clean
as Marie’s family eats meat.
By having everything
organised it means there is
Creative Media Production
trying the foods so make
sure they are adequate for
the customer. This is very
unlikely to happen as we are
not working with meat as we
are making recipes to suit
the vegetarian market and so
along as wipe all surfaces
before we begin cooking this
shouldn’t happen.
less likely for us to get food
poisoning, viruses or the flu.
If there were any trances or
symptoms of food position
such as sickness we would
take them to hospital
immediately or call 999

We will make sure that we use oven gloves to protect our hands from any fire or heat from the ovens. We will also double check the temperatures in which the foods need to be cooked at so that it doesn’t overheat and catch fire. We will make sure that we don’t use a wet towel when collecting our food products as it would burn our hands. We would also clean dishes so we would have a separate towel for both cleaning and collecting the food. If one of our group members were to burn themselves we would take immediate action and run the burn under cold water to help prevent blistering. But if there was to be a fire caused we would evacuate the building and call 999 Machinery We will be using food processes which are dangerous as we might hurt ourselves with them. We will also be using whisks which are bad as they are very fast moving which can be dangerous for ourselves. We will use ovens and a hob which both use electricity and gas. The likelihood of issues surrounding machinery is not very likely because are fingers wont be any where near the blades of some of the machinery such as the food processer, and also he fact that we have been educated, and are sensible enough not to go near fast moving or sharp object which could put ourselves in danger or those around us. We will make sure that our hair is tied back and that we don’t have any nail varnish on as that will chip into the food. We will make sure that lid is on the food processor so that the food doesn’t go all over the kitchen, this would be unhygienic and a waste of food. We will make sure that we turn of all appliances once finished with. If any of our body parts were to get stuck in the mixer we would turn the machine of straight way and then analyse the situation to then take the best course of action whether this involves first aid or hospital assistance. Such issues could be surround hair,
  • 3. Creative Media Production clothing or hands getting stuck within the machine. Materials We will be using glass, wood and metal. Each of these materials causes damage to a human either by cutting ourselves or getting splinters in our skin. We are at risk because of the different materials that we will be using for the different food products. It s more likely when considering other dangers and hazards that this is to happen such as dropping any bowls or utensils We will make sure that all the wrapping of the food will go straight in the bin so that we don’t trip up on the packaging. By preventing this it means we will not hurt ourselves easier. If we get a splinter in our hands then we will use tweezers to remove the wood then we will use disinfectant cream and then we will put on a plaster, this will prevent infection. If we were to cut ourselves or injure ourselves we would clean the wound the cover with a plaster to prevent infection and any issues when it comes to containing making the recipes. Vehicles We will be using public transport, Hannah will be using a train and then a bus to Marie’s House, and this might be dangerous as I will have to walk across roads to get to the bus or train station. Charlotte will be getting the bus which means she would also have to cross busy roads. By travelling like this it will cause pollution. Marie will be walking towards the bus stop; this will also be dangerous for the same reasons. We feel that such a problem is very unlikely to happen because we are sensible people and have had years of experience near busy roads and city centres. When we are walking we will make sure to look both ways so that we are safer. We will make sure that we aren’t listening to any music, this would be better as we will be able to listen to the traffic better. We will make sure that we are a distance from the bus and trains so that we don’t get hurt by fast moving objects. We will make sure that we have plenty of time to catch our trains and buses because we wouldn’t want to rush, this would make sure more likely prone to fall. Food Poisoning So this could effect either the customer if they were to eat the products we have made within this unhygienic environment. We could also become from been near these products because we are within this working environment, as well as We will make sure that all the products used will be clean so that there are no bacteria left on the food products. We will also make sure that the work surfaces are all clean as Marie’s family eats meat. By having everything organised it means there is
  • 4. Creative Media Production trying the foods so make sure they are adequate for the customer. This is very unlikely to happen as we are not working with meat as we are making recipes to suit the vegetarian market and so along as wipe all surfaces before we begin cooking this shouldn’t happen. less likely for us to get food poisoning, viruses or the flu. If there were any trances or symptoms of food position such as sickness we would take them to hospital immediately or call 999 What Health and Safety legislation might you need to consider in this project?
