The Workforce Development Program at GMHC helps clients find jobs and succeed in the workplace. We offer comprehensive vocational assessment, training, job placement assistance, and retention services to ensure successful transitions to work. With enhanced skills, increased self-esteem, and confidence built by the program, participants are motivated to attain employment and achieve greater financial independence and autonomy.
2. RISE
Our program was developed to assist HASA participants
with transitioning into the workforce. Our goal is to provide
you with information, support and our expertise on how to
make that happen. We are here to provide guidance
through this process and what we hope you can achieve is
self-sufficiency through support and financial stability.

4. TRANSITIONAL BENEFITS
The RISE program provides transitional benefits counseling that
will help you make informed decisions before considering
employment.
RISE staff have a unique and direct collaboration with HASA staff
and can provide a snapshot of how your benefits will change.
RISE staff are knowledgeable regarding transitional benefits
based on you hourly wage and your total household income.
As a client of the RISE program you came acquire income for up
to 30 days of employment before the re-budgeting process
begins.
RISE staff can assist you with filling out the required documents
to request an income disregard.
RISE staff will support you every step of the way.

The SUNY lab is operated by the Microsoft Office Specialists who can
assist you with all your job search needs.
7. INTERNSHIPS AND
EXTERNSHIPS
RISE staff will provide opportunities for diverse
internships and externships that stem for a
three-month period at 10 hours per week.
These opportunities are offered to help you gain
experience and support a smooth acclimation
within a workforce environment.
8. FINANCIAL ADVISEMENT
Our Financial Coaches can assist you in developing
the skills needed to manage money and gain
financial stability in the following areas:
Setting Financial Goals
Budgeting and Saving
Opening a Bank Account
Reviewing Credit Reports
Resolving Debt Problems / Student Loans
Public Benefit and Tax Credit Eligibility
9. JOB PLACEMENT
ASSISTANCE
Case Managers assist with
vocational counseling, creating
résumé’s, cover letters and thank you
letters.
Job developers assist with job
placement, job leads, as well as
resume critique, mock interviews and
employment applications.
10. RETENTION SERVICES
RISE staff will support and offer guidance through your employment
process.
RISE staff will provide metro cards for up to 6 months as long as you
maintain 20 hours a week or more.
RISE staff are available to provide retention services and post
placement workshops from 9AM-7:30PM.
If at some point you lose your job or your hours decrease RISE staff
can assist with other employment opportunities
