Richard Morrison has had a 30-year career designing title sequences for over 150 films. Some of his most notable works include titles for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, A Fish Called Wanda, Hellraiser, and Batman. For the Batman titles, Morrison designed the sequence to give the perspective of circling around the Batman symbol without revealing it until the end. Morrison aims to grab audiences' attention within the first few minutes of the title sequence and set the tone for the rest of the film.

Richard Morrison has created title credits for over 150 feature
films in his 30 year career. In his 3 decade career he has become
one of the world’s leading film titles’ designer. Morrison also
worked with Maurice Binder on the title sequence for some films
in the Bond series.

5. The title sequence for ‘Batman’ shows the
perspective as if the audience were going
around the Batman symbol. As it goes
the symbol you are not aware of what it is
you are following around as it is not
revealed until the end. As you go around
the symbol cast and crew information fades onto the screen in a yellow
colour. The main colours of the title is
yellow and black to represent the key
colour scheme of the film.

6. “I've evolved more now to consider the story, or a set of events
in the background, that will link you into the film, so the
whole thing becomes like a seamless link,” Morrison explains.
“You've got a typical opening sequence, which is three-and-
half minutes of blank space, so you might as well fill it with
something creative. When the lights go down, before it even
starts and people are rustling around with their popcorn,
they're not really paying attention, so you need to grab their
attention within three minutes, or even a minute. A lot of
people I've asked have said, 'It's great because we can almost
judge if we are going to stay with the film based on those first
three minutes.”
