A survey conducted by Refused Car Finance reveals how drivers were impacted by lockdown. With ever-changing regulations which vary by region and local lockdowns, it’s no surprise that 36.5% of UK drivers surveyed were confused as to what they can and can’t do. But what were the driving rules under lockdown? How have they changed over time and how does your location play a part?
Economic Considerations and the EU ReferendumIpsos UK
A new Ipsos MORI study published today finds the public is not optimistic about levels of EU investment in the UK or its ability to export to the EU over the next five years if Britain votes to leave the EU in next month’s referendum.
Business and Brexit: The risks of taking a stanceIpsos UK
British adults think that businesses should be involved in the EU referendum debate – but that doesn’t mean they will trust them. When asked whether different types of business should take part in the EU referendum campaign, support was high for British businesses to participate by publicly backing one side or the other, especially SMEs. However, this does not necessarily mean the public trust what big businesses say on the issues.
The new survey finds three-quarters (75%) of the public say that small and medium-size British businesses should participate in the debate – more than say the same for other groups such as academics (68%), think tanks (54%) and newspapers (52%). The contributions of SMEs are more welcome than those of big businesses – but still nearly seven in ten (69%) of British adults are happy for big British businesses which trade internationally to make their opinion on Brexit known. However, while three-fifths (57%) say that they trust small business owners on issues relating to the referendum, leaders of large businesses fare worse, being trusted on the issues by just three in ten (29%).

As we enter the final week of campaigning ahead of the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union (EU), our new poll for STV News suggests that the majority of Scots will back the campaign to retain membership.
Among those who are likely to vote next week, 58% would vote for the UK to stay in the EU while 33% support Brexit and 8% are undecided. Once we have removed undecided voters, 64% back Remain and 36% Brexit.

It is 20 years since Ipsos MORI opened a permanent office in Scotland. To mark the occasion, look back on the significant changes that have taken place since 1995 and forward to the challenges ahead, we gathered with friends and colleagues from all across Scotland at the National Museum of Scotland on Tuesday 24 November.
In his presentation, Ben Page looked back at the significant societal, cultural and attitudinal changes over the last twenty years and the extent to which these reflect what we observe in other parts of the world.
Ipsos Survey: Reactions to Brexit in 16 countriesIpsos UK
A major new Ipsos survey across 16 countries provides an insight into how major countries have reacted to Brexit, and what comes next for Britain and the EU. The survey, among online adults aged under 65 in in Belgium, France, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and seven non-European countries (Canada, US, Japan, Russia, India, Australia and South Africa) provides our first measure of international public opinion.
New Ipsos MORI analysis shows 53% of people in Scotland view Brexit as one of the most important issues facing Britain today, compared with 46% across Britain as a whole. Brexit tops our ‘Issues Index’ in Scotland, ahead of the NHS which was mentioned by 50%.
However, our English neighbours are, of course, far from homogenous in their views on Brexit. There is substantial regional variation, with the proportions considering Brexit one of the key issues facing the country ranging from as low as 35-36% in the Midlands, to as high as 60% in the South East. Unsurprisingly, concern about Brexit is highest in those areas that, like Scotland, saw a relatively high Remain vote.
In terms of the other key issues exercising people in Scotland, education and schools were mentioned by 19% (similar to Britain as a whole). At 18%, the proportion mentioning the ageing population and social care as a key issue facing the country was higher in Scotland compared with Britain as a whole (11%), perhaps reflecting growing awareness of the particular challenges Scotland faces around its ageing population.
In contrast, Scots were a little less likely to identify immigration as a key issue facing the country (16%, compared with 21% across Britain as a whole).
Ipsos MORI Post EU Referendum Consumer Confidence SurveyIpsos UK
One in ten UK consumers have opted to delay or abandon a big spending decision because of the EU referendum result, a survey by Ipsos MORI for the Telegraph has found. However, the majority (57%) expect their personal financial situation will be unchanged over the next six months.
The research, among more than 1,000 UK adults aged between 16 and 75, finds just over a quarter (26%) had been planning a big spending commitment, such as a holiday, car or house move for the coming six months. Of those, 16% have decided to go ahead with the purchase as planned, but 5% have decided to delay and another 5% have decided not to continue at all.

Cyberbullying - an Ipsos Global Advisor SurveyIpsos UK
One in three parents globally report knowing a child in their community that is the victim of cyberbullying, and there has been a significant rise in British parents reporting their child has been cyberbullied. Britain also has the highest prevalence of parents reporting cyberbullying by a classmate.
Ipsos’ recent Global Advisor study, carried out in 28 countries, finds that awareness of cyberbullying is increasing globally, up 9 percentage points from 2011. Though global awareness of cyberbullying is high (75%), one quarter of adults have still never heard of it. Awareness in Britain has decreased: in 2011, 8 in 10 adults (80%) were aware, which has decreased to 7 in 10 (71%) in 2018. There has also been a decrease in adults in Britain agreeing that cyberbullying needs special attention (72% agree in 2018 compared with 79% in 2016) rather than being handled through existing anti-bullying measures.

Ipsos / World Economic Forum Global Citizens & Data PrivacyIpsos UK
Findings from a new Ipsos and World Economic Forum project suggest world citizens are in the dark about how their personal information is used – most of all those from economically advanced countries including Great Britain.
Lee Rainie, Director of the Pew Internet & American Life Project, will discuss the Project’s research about how the internet and cell phones are affecting citizens and how government agencies have new opportunities to plug into citizens’ social networks as they try to solve problems in their lives. He will talk about the reasons people rely more and more on their social networks as they share ideas, learn, and seek support. Government agencies now have the chance to act as “nodes” in those networks. 4/22/09

Do we need to stress again that people aged 55+ are growing in number and are living longer? The arrival of Baby Boomers in the "Papy-Boomers" category (babies from the Baby-boom generation who have grown old) has induced deep demographic, economic and social changes.
Once retired, seniors stay healthy for about twenty years with comfortable income to enjoy their new life. They set themselves free, divorce, travel, take care of grandchildren when they decide. They resort more and more to the shareconomy and their demand for innovation is high.
