DEFINITION, OBJECTIVE AND PHILOSOPHY
A) Definition : “The protocol consists in a free, several day long learning expedition in
a city, which brings together different stakeholders (academics, entrepreneurs,
activists, makers, journalists, artists, students, etc.) and relies on a partly improvised
process (both the people met and places visited are part of the improvisation that
emerges in the flow of discussions) »
B) Objective : to accumulate OWEEs in time and space, to link them with powerful
digital and spoken narratives to transform collaborative practices between
academics/researchers, citizens, entrepreneurs, freelancers, managers, activists,
makers, artists, students, journalists…
C) Philosophy : OWEE, the acculumation of experiences, practives and wisdom
around OWEE processes aims at becoming a common good for researchers and
citizens. It aims at transforming the conditions of possibility of collaboration in the
city in the flow of collaboration itself. The cultures, valuers, aesthetics and practices of
makers, hackers, DIY and DIT are at the heart of this experience.

Editor's Notes

  • #8 Design is intentionality What intention
  • #9 Thirds places (especially fab labs) rely upon autonomy, responsability, innovation… knowledge creation and learning. One thing people learn in such third places is how to manage them.
  • #10 All these organizations work with principles we can find in a kind of organization theorized by Elinor Ostrom: the commons.
  • #11 What a commons looks like? The family fridge is a commons: a shared resource which needs to be taken care of, in order not to be exhausted. To take care of this ressource we need rules. And the rules have to be discussed to be accepted.
  • #12 More usual commons
