SOLAR PANEL
WHAT IS A SOLAR CELL?
It converts light energy to electrical energy.
COMPONENTS OF A SOLAR PANEL
• Anodised aluminium frame
• Highly transparent tempered glass
• Encapsulant material EVA
• Photovoltaic solar cells
• Insulating back sheet
• Junction box

W H Y W E NEED BLDC MOTOR ?
• High efficiency (90-96%)
• High power density
• No brushes and commutator, hence no spark
BLDC MOTOR
So, a BLDC motor is an electric motor powered by direct
current supply and commutated electronically instead of
brushes, unlike the conventional DC motor.
BLDC motor has two parts:-
1. Stator
2. Rotor
What is the difference between a brush DC motor
and Brushless DC Motor ?
TEAM REVANTA
WORKING TEAM REVANTA
PRINCIPLE
BLDC works on the principle of LORENTZ FORCE
WORKING
• Applying DC supply to coil A, coil will become electromagnet
and will experience Lorentz force.
• Opposite poles of rotor and stator are attracted to each
other as result rotor poles moves near energized stator.
• As rotor nears coil A, coil B is energized. As rotor nears coil B, coil
C is energized. After that coil A is energized with opposite
polarity and rotor continues to rotate
• One might get a question how we know which stator Coil
should be energized ?
• This is done by hall sensors which give the position of stator coil,
and which in turn helps to energize the appropriate coil.
MAXIMUM POW ER POINT TRACKING
The MPPT tracks the voltage and current from the solar panel to
determine when the maximum power occurs in order to extract
maximum power and then adjusts the voltage to the battery to
optimize the proper charging.
WORKING
MPPT is DC to DC converter which operates by taking
DC input from PV module, changing it to AC and
converting it back to a different DC voltage and current
to exactly match the PV module to the battery.
• Uniform charging of battery.
• Prevents battery from overcharging.
• Prevents battery discharge at night through solar
panels.

CHASSIS
Chassis is defined as vehicle's main supporting structure
which bears all the stresses in both static and dynamic
condition. It is the backbone of the vehicle and major units
are mounted to it.
FUNCTIONS OF CHASSIS
TEAM REVANTA
• Supports and bears the load of the vehicle body
• Withstand stresses due to road conditions
• Withstand stresses due to braking and
acceleration
• Provide adequate space for mountings
• Provide capability to steer the vehicle
• Provides isolation between road and passengers
CLASSIFICATION OF CHASSIS

BRAKING SYSTEM
TEAM
BRAKING SYSTEM
• It is a group of mechanical, electronic and hydraulically activated components which use friction or heat to stop a
vehicle.
• It converts Kinetic energy into heat energy which in turn stops vehicle.
TEAM REVANTA
Heat Analysis Done in Ansys
TEAM REVANTA
How?
We apply force in brake
pedal which pushes fluid
in the cylinder which in
turn pushes the brake
callipers inward and
stops the vehicle.
DISC BRAKE
• They are lighter and efficiency is
high as compared to other
brakes.
• Heat dissipation is managed
• Modern vehicles always
equipped with disc brakes on
at least the front two wheels.
TEAM REVANTA
TEAM REVANTA
DRUM BRAKE
• A drum brake is a brake that
uses friction caused by a set
of shoes or pads that press
outward against a rotating
cylinder-shaped part called a brake
drum.
• The term drum brake usually
means a brake in which shoes
press on the inner surface of the
drum. When shoes press on the
outside of the drum, it is usually
called a clasp brake.

TEAM REVANTA
TEAM REVANTA
What is a steering system?
• Steering system carries out the process of running the vehicle in
the desired direction by turning, usually the front wheels.
Why do we require steering system?
• To provide effective control of the vehicle throughout its
speed range.
• For proper performance and useful service of the
automobile.
• To achieve the angular motion of the front wheels of a vehicle
of negotiate a turn.
Functions of steering system
• Helps in swinging the wheels to the left or right.
• Helps in turning the vehicle at the will of the driver.
• Used to minimize the tyre wear and tear.
• Absorbs major part of the road shocks.

Revanta uses "Rack and pinion Steering gear Mechanism"
• Most common manual type of Steering gear box used
in vehicles.
• Here pinion is provided at the bottom end of the
steering column.
• The teeth of the pinion wheel is in mesh with
corresponding teeth provided on the rack, the end of
which are connected to the stub axle through the rod.
• The rotating motion of the pinion operates the rack in
FORE and AFT direction which in turn operates the
stub axle.

TEAM
TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
• A car transmission, also known as the transmission system, is the
mechanism by which power created by the engine is transferred to the
driving wheels.
• This part of the vehicle is the most important in determining the power
and functionality of your engine systems.
TYPES OF TRANSMISSION
• Automatic transmission
• Manual transmission.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM
• Suspension is the system of springs, shock absorbers
and linkages that connect a vehicle to its wheels and
allow relative motion between the two.
• Serve a dual purpose – contributing to the
handling and braking.
• Protects the vehicle itself and any cargo or luggage
from damage and wear.
PURPOSE OF SUSPENSION
SYSTEM
• Isolate passenger and luggage from vibration and shock.
• Supports the weight Provides a smooth ride.
• Keeps tires in firm contact with the road.
• Allows the front wheel to turn side to side for steering.
• Works with the steering system to keep the wheels in
correct alignment.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM
DEPENDENT SUSPENSION
It has both right and left wheel attached to the same solid axle. When one wheel hits a bump in the
road, its upward movement causes a slight tilt of another wheel.
TEAM REVANTA
SUSPENSION SYSTEM
INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION
Independent suspension is a broad term for any automobile suspension system that allows each wheel on the same axle to
move vertically independently of each other.
Which type of suspension system does Team Revanta use ?
WISHBONE SUSPENSION
• The suspension must be designed in such a way as to
keep the wheel upright for maximum Tyre contact
(vehicle control) and to minimize Tyre wear.
• The upper wishbone is short, and the lower wishbone
is longer.
• Both wishbones pivot points and lengths are
calculated to provide the best operating angle for a
given suspension movement.
