manufacturing principles. Design fixtures and buy new assembly equipment suitable for existing and new products. Review and approve new molds and
dies. Review cost structure of BOMs and routings to assure cost of products meet preliminary estimates.
Main Accomplishments
• Changed the material in the stop pad used in the “Decora” product family. This change involved the design of molded plastic parts, fixtures
and assembly processes generating savings of $50,000 in material, labor and overhead.
• Used lean manufacturing tools to redesign the assembly process of a high-runner PCBA (for sensors), the change included the addition of flip-
over fixtures, wave solder pallets and the modification of the electrical test process. These changes yielded a cost saving of $60,000
approximately.
• Improved the Dymax PCB coating operation by implementing a continuous process flow, the change generated a saving of $15,000.
• Modified the design of the Toggle Dimmer to remove one part (CAP) and save $25,000 approximately
• Identified an alternate source for the EVSE LED membrane label generating a yearly saving of $12,000
• Participated in the selection and purchasing of a RoHS wave solder machine. This equipment improved the soldering process and the
reduction of solder scrap.
