1. I have recently finished my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
(Hons) degree at Canterbury University, New Zealand. I have just
completed a J1 work and travel Visa in the United States. My
personal attributes have evolved from four main aspects of my life.
Firstly, my family has instilled in me honesty and integrity with a
strong sense of fair play and a good sense of humour, secondly; my
school and university life have fostered in me a competitive spirit,
loyalty to friends and the student community, respect, courteous
behaviour and empathy towards others, and an ability to deal with
whatever challenges life throws at you, thirdly; my participation in
both team and individual sports has made me a more determined
person with a desire for physical fitness and wellbeing which brings
with it a development of good work habits and time management
skills, and lastly; the arts and music have brought out and further
developed my creative flair.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare – Product Development Engineer
Description of Duties: Performing Blower reliability tests and
developing solutions on the CPAP (Constant Positive Applied
Pressure) ICON2 product in the Obstructive Sleep Apnea division.
Skills Gained: Working in a team of 10 mid level to senior engineers
gave me the chance to learn valuable problem solving techniques
and business strategies in the medical engineering sector. As the
products focus was to reduce cost of manufacture, whilst maintaining
its high standard for reliability and compliance, I was able to see how
tiny changes to design and material could potentially contribute to
large reductions in profit for the company.
Stonex Systems Ltd – Maintenance Engineer/Technician
Skills Gained: I gained valuable knowledge of the role of a
maintenance engineer and an understanding of the operation of a
mechanical workshop. I learnt a great amount about mechanical
systems and the correct application of a vast amount of tools. I was
able to see first hand how mechanical parts responded and
interrelated. I have gained valuable problem solving abilities to tackle
bigger and more complicated machines.
UCM – Formula SAE Aerodynamics & Composites
My final year project involved designing, developing and building an
aerodynamics package for the UCM race car competing in the
annual Formula SAE competition in Melbourne. My roles included
bodywork design, wind tunnel analysis and carbon fiber composites
manufacturing.
ENSOC Committee – Marketing & Media
I was elected the Marketing and Media representative for the
Engineering Society, a club with upwards of 2000 members. My
responsibilities included promoting and helping organise large
social, sporting and academic events. I have gained valuable
communication and presentation skills through social media,
poster design and promotional videos. I worked closely with
business sponsors who help fund our events as well as coordinated
with all the committee members to run a financially successful
and enjoyable club environment.
Student Volunteer Army: After the 2011 Christchurch
Earthquake, I joined the Student Volunteer Army. I was able to
help clean up and rebuild parts of the community that were
heavily affected.
ENSOC Running Club Manager & Coach: In 2014 I started a
running club at the University of Canterbury and trained students
weekly for the marathon. I gained experience in management and
personal training.
University Rowing Championships: I started rowing in 2013 as
a Novice and competed at the University Rowing Championships.
My teams won a gold, silver and Bronze Medal.
Student Band: Singer/Piano/Guitar: I have been a member of
a band for the past several years. We perform live at student
events as well as street busking.
