Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 5
WITH THE POSITIONS I WAS HOLDING, I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN SEVERAL PROJECTS. I WILL ONLY LIST DOWN SOME
MAJOR PROJECTS WHERE I SPENT MORE OF MY TIME.
1) EDSA Shangri La Mall Redevelopment Project (2013 - present)
Location: EDSA corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, Philippines
Cost Directly Managed: 46.8 million US$ (@ 47 PhP to 1 US$)
We were able to generate cost savings by reviewing design during construction. The main problem encountered has been
managing the works during night time. Operations has been able to generate income since there was never major interruption
during the course of the project. Project has been substantially completed and below budget. A total of 7.5 million man hours
has been spent without any productivity lost due to accident.
2) 69 KV Transmission Line and 100 MVA Substation Project (2010 - 2011)
Location: Philippines
Owner : Clark Development Corporation
Project Cost: 14.4 million US$ (@ 43 PhP to 1 US$)
I was providing project management simultaneously for both Romago and Asiaphil in this project. The challenge with this
project has been the delivery schedule of 165 days including engineering and construction. This should have been 240 to 300
days for construction alone. I was tasked to take the management of the transmission line and the load end substation. I ended
up travelling several times to Jakarta to expedite the production of the 4 units of 100 MVA transformers for both sending end
and load end substations. There were several nationalities involved in this project that enhanced further my skills in dealing
with different cultures. The project is now operating and we are now in the post construction stage. My contract management
expertise has been very useful in protecting the interest of the company.
3) Armadillo Holdings Projects (2003 - 2008)
Location: Philippines
Owner : Wyden King
Cost Directly Managed: 15.7 million US$ (@ 47 PhP to 1 US$)
As part of the owner/developer company, I was overseeing several simultaneous projects including hotels (like Legend Villa -
http://www.legendvillas.com.ph/and Mabuhay Manor -http://www.mabuhaymanor.com.ph/guestrooms/index.html), student
dormitory (http://www.myplace.com.ph/), ballroom, public markets and other special projects. These projects included
several work packages like wastewater treatment and RO systems, civil works, electro-mechanical works, CCTV, voice and
data network using structured cabling, architectural works including interior finishing with furnishings, system integration
and commissioning. My major contribution was the elimination of corruption and reducing the project cost by introducing
innovative technologies.
We implemented several energy cost savings projects that included CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects of
biomass fired boilers that resulted to 80% savings in fuel. We were conducting feasibility study for a 10MW rice husk power
plant when I left the company.
4) RCBC Building Project – Office Building (2000 - 2002)
Location: Ayala Avenue, Makati, Philippines
Owner : RCBC
Cost Directly Managed: 3.08 million US$ (@ 37 PhP to 1 US$)
As part of a construction firm, I took over the project management for the electro-mechanical fit out contract in order to
recover the delay that was incurred. We have been able to expedite all works within three months and have acquired 50%
accomplishment.
The original contract was 60 million PhP and we had 54 million PhP total change order claims. This required a lot of
documentation where my expertise in information management and contract management had been useful.
5) Nestle Administration Building Project – Office Building (1999 - 2000)
Location: Rockwell Center, Makati, Philippines
Owner : Rockpenro Incorporated
Cost Directly Managed: 46.87 million US$ (@32 PhP to 1 US$)
As part of the project management consultancy firm, I was engaged to take over the construction management in order to
recover the delay that has been incurred. We were able to expedite mostly of the works from May 1999 to September 1999
when most contract packages acquired 65% progress for five months from take over. The project included civil architectural
works, electro-mechanical works, CCTV, structured cabling, precision air-conditioning system, passenger and freight
elevators, BMS, glass walls, monumental stair, office system furniture, granite walls and 3.5 MW emergency power.
One of the project management tools we were using was the multiple activity chart. This tool has been very effective in
monitoring and controlling overlapping activities with space restriction. System integration and commissioning works were
done without much problem due to proper sequencing of activities and coordination.
Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 6
6) Post Construction Audit for Manila Polo Club (1998)
Location: Manila, Philippines
Owner : Manila Polo Club
We were engaged to do the Post Construction Audit for the projects implemented by Manila Polo Club to sort out the
required documentation left by several project managers engaged by them.
We were able to submit our report to the Oversight Committee of the Manila Polo Club informing them of our findings in our
Post Construction Audit. One of our findings was the lack of control on strategic processes that led to several problems.
7) Prime Block Project – Commercial Building (1996 - 1998)
Location: Manila, Philippines
Owner : Tutuban Properties Incorporated
Cost Directly Managed: 32.14 million US$ (@28 PhP to 1 US$)
I was engaged from the bidding until turnover phase of this project. Prime Block Project is composed of 45,384 square meters
commercial building. The construction included the pile driving, structural works, architectural works, elevator and escalator
installation, mechanical works, electrical works, plumbing sanitary works and fire protection works. The tight schedule and
the volume of work made this project very challenging. We were able to cut down the cost by 111 million PhP after two
months of value engineering.
8) Carpark Building Project (1996)
Location: Manila, Philippines
Owner : Tutuban Properties Incorporated
Cost Directly Managed: 6.48 million US$ (@ 28 PhP to 1 US$)
This is a 20,658 sq m building that started March 1996 and completed October 1996. The owner wanted to use the building
by December 1996. The works included pile driving, construction of eight levels carpark building with the services like the
fire suppression system and computerized carpark management system. I was doing the project management for the owner for
the whole duration of the project. The main problem with this project was the very tight timetable. But we were able to finish
the project as scheduled and spared the owner from expensive lawsuits filed by the tenants if the project had been delayed.
9) Cellular Network Project (1995 - 1996)
Location: Luzon, Philippines
Owner : Islacom
Cost Directly Managed: 7.69 million US$ (@ 26 PhP to 1 US$)
This is a construction of several cell sites on existing buildings or newly constructed towers and the installation of the
equipment. The distance between the sites was making this project tricky. The coordination of different agencies in each
location was causing delays that have to be corrected immediately. I was doing the overall project management of this
project. We were able to turn on 20 cell sites and another 20 cell sites under construction when I left the company.
Negotiating with local authorities and other interested parties have been one of my contributions in this project.
10) Feasibility Study for Gypsum Processing Project
(270,000 MT Annual Production - 290 Million PhP) - 1995
Location: Isabel, Leyte, Philippines
Owner : Uni Producer (Subsidiary of Phinma)
This is an evaluation of the feasibility of putting up a Gypsum Processing Plant to supply pelletized gypsum to different
cement plants owned by Phinma. As a hired consultant, I did the study including the data collection from different agencies
(like Philphos and Planters, Inc.), preparation/assessment of the project feasibility and coming up with a report submitted to
Uni Producer.
11) Annex Building Project - 1993
Location: Corner Nueva & Balintawak Sts, Cebu City, Phils
Owner : VICSAL Development Corporation
Cost Directly Managed: 5.45 million US$ (@ 22 PhP to 1 US$)
I was in charge of the overall project management. The project included demolition of an existing old building, sheet piling,
excavation, concreting using pumpcrete, scaffoldings using steel and lumber, electrical and mechanical installation The
project is located in a very busy place in Cebu where project scheduling of works have to be properly planned. The presence
of squatters/sidewalk vendors compounded the space problem.
12) Warehouse Project – 1992 - 1993
Location: Sabellano St., Labangon, Cebu, Philippines
Owner : VICSAL Development Corporation
Cost Directly Managed: 1.25 million US$ (@ 22 PhP to 1 US$)
Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 7
This project included the demolition of existing old building, elevating the ground elevation by 1.15 meters for the entire
7,400sqm floor area (this required the hauling of big volume filling materials), concreting using pumpcrete, office
construction, installation of racking system, thermal insulation, water proofing, electrical installation, water supply
installation, perimeter paving and drainage.
I was the one doing the overall project management of the project. One of my contributions to this project was to convert the
additive claim of the contractor into a deductive after double- checking the calculation that the contractor thought would not
be done due to its length.

  • 5. Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 5 WITH THE POSITIONS I WAS HOLDING, I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN SEVERAL PROJECTS. I WILL ONLY LIST DOWN SOME MAJOR PROJECTS WHERE I SPENT MORE OF MY TIME. 1) EDSA Shangri La Mall Redevelopment Project (2013 - present) Location: EDSA corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, Philippines Cost Directly Managed: 46.8 million US$ (@ 47 PhP to 1 US$) We were able to generate cost savings by reviewing design during construction. The main problem encountered has been managing the works during night time. Operations has been able to generate income since there was never major interruption during the course of the project. Project has been substantially completed and below budget. A total of 7.5 million man hours has been spent without any productivity lost due to accident. 2) 69 KV Transmission Line and 100 MVA Substation Project (2010 - 2011) Location: Philippines Owner : Clark Development Corporation Project Cost: 14.4 million US$ (@ 43 PhP to 1 US$) I was providing project management simultaneously for both Romago and Asiaphil in this project. The challenge with this project has been the delivery schedule of 165 days including engineering and construction. This should have been 240 to 300 days for construction alone. I was tasked to take the management of the transmission line and the load end substation. I ended up travelling several times to Jakarta to expedite the production of the 4 units of 100 MVA transformers for both sending end and load end substations. There were several nationalities involved in this project that enhanced further my skills in dealing with different cultures. The project is now operating and we are now in the post construction stage. My contract management expertise has been very useful in protecting the interest of the company. 3) Armadillo Holdings Projects (2003 - 2008) Location: Philippines Owner : Wyden King Cost Directly Managed: 15.7 million US$ (@ 47 PhP to 1 US$) As part of the owner/developer company, I was overseeing several simultaneous projects including hotels (like Legend Villa - http://www.legendvillas.com.ph/and Mabuhay Manor -http://www.mabuhaymanor.com.ph/guestrooms/index.html), student dormitory (http://www.myplace.com.ph/), ballroom, public markets and other special projects. These projects included several work packages like wastewater treatment and RO systems, civil works, electro-mechanical works, CCTV, voice and data network using structured cabling, architectural works including interior finishing with furnishings, system integration and commissioning. My major contribution was the elimination of corruption and reducing the project cost by introducing innovative technologies. We implemented several energy cost savings projects that included CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects of biomass fired boilers that resulted to 80% savings in fuel. We were conducting feasibility study for a 10MW rice husk power plant when I left the company. 4) RCBC Building Project – Office Building (2000 - 2002) Location: Ayala Avenue, Makati, Philippines Owner : RCBC Cost Directly Managed: 3.08 million US$ (@ 37 PhP to 1 US$) As part of a construction firm, I took over the project management for the electro-mechanical fit out contract in order to recover the delay that was incurred. We have been able to expedite all works within three months and have acquired 50% accomplishment. The original contract was 60 million PhP and we had 54 million PhP total change order claims. This required a lot of documentation where my expertise in information management and contract management had been useful. 5) Nestle Administration Building Project – Office Building (1999 - 2000) Location: Rockwell Center, Makati, Philippines Owner : Rockpenro Incorporated Cost Directly Managed: 46.87 million US$ (@32 PhP to 1 US$) As part of the project management consultancy firm, I was engaged to take over the construction management in order to recover the delay that has been incurred. We were able to expedite mostly of the works from May 1999 to September 1999 when most contract packages acquired 65% progress for five months from take over. The project included civil architectural works, electro-mechanical works, CCTV, structured cabling, precision air-conditioning system, passenger and freight elevators, BMS, glass walls, monumental stair, office system furniture, granite walls and 3.5 MW emergency power. One of the project management tools we were using was the multiple activity chart. This tool has been very effective in monitoring and controlling overlapping activities with space restriction. System integration and commissioning works were done without much problem due to proper sequencing of activities and coordination.
  • 6. Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 6 6) Post Construction Audit for Manila Polo Club (1998) Location: Manila, Philippines Owner : Manila Polo Club We were engaged to do the Post Construction Audit for the projects implemented by Manila Polo Club to sort out the required documentation left by several project managers engaged by them. We were able to submit our report to the Oversight Committee of the Manila Polo Club informing them of our findings in our Post Construction Audit. One of our findings was the lack of control on strategic processes that led to several problems. 7) Prime Block Project – Commercial Building (1996 - 1998) Location: Manila, Philippines Owner : Tutuban Properties Incorporated Cost Directly Managed: 32.14 million US$ (@28 PhP to 1 US$) I was engaged from the bidding until turnover phase of this project. Prime Block Project is composed of 45,384 square meters commercial building. The construction included the pile driving, structural works, architectural works, elevator and escalator installation, mechanical works, electrical works, plumbing sanitary works and fire protection works. The tight schedule and the volume of work made this project very challenging. We were able to cut down the cost by 111 million PhP after two months of value engineering. 8) Carpark Building Project (1996) Location: Manila, Philippines Owner : Tutuban Properties Incorporated Cost Directly Managed: 6.48 million US$ (@ 28 PhP to 1 US$) This is a 20,658 sq m building that started March 1996 and completed October 1996. The owner wanted to use the building by December 1996. The works included pile driving, construction of eight levels carpark building with the services like the fire suppression system and computerized carpark management system. I was doing the project management for the owner for the whole duration of the project. The main problem with this project was the very tight timetable. But we were able to finish the project as scheduled and spared the owner from expensive lawsuits filed by the tenants if the project had been delayed. 9) Cellular Network Project (1995 - 1996) Location: Luzon, Philippines Owner : Islacom Cost Directly Managed: 7.69 million US$ (@ 26 PhP to 1 US$) This is a construction of several cell sites on existing buildings or newly constructed towers and the installation of the equipment. The distance between the sites was making this project tricky. The coordination of different agencies in each location was causing delays that have to be corrected immediately. I was doing the overall project management of this project. We were able to turn on 20 cell sites and another 20 cell sites under construction when I left the company. Negotiating with local authorities and other interested parties have been one of my contributions in this project. 10) Feasibility Study for Gypsum Processing Project (270,000 MT Annual Production - 290 Million PhP) - 1995 Location: Isabel, Leyte, Philippines Owner : Uni Producer (Subsidiary of Phinma) This is an evaluation of the feasibility of putting up a Gypsum Processing Plant to supply pelletized gypsum to different cement plants owned by Phinma. As a hired consultant, I did the study including the data collection from different agencies (like Philphos and Planters, Inc.), preparation/assessment of the project feasibility and coming up with a report submitted to Uni Producer. 11) Annex Building Project - 1993 Location: Corner Nueva & Balintawak Sts, Cebu City, Phils Owner : VICSAL Development Corporation Cost Directly Managed: 5.45 million US$ (@ 22 PhP to 1 US$) I was in charge of the overall project management. The project included demolition of an existing old building, sheet piling, excavation, concreting using pumpcrete, scaffoldings using steel and lumber, electrical and mechanical installation The project is located in a very busy place in Cebu where project scheduling of works have to be properly planned. The presence of squatters/sidewalk vendors compounded the space problem. 12) Warehouse Project – 1992 - 1993 Location: Sabellano St., Labangon, Cebu, Philippines Owner : VICSAL Development Corporation Cost Directly Managed: 1.25 million US$ (@ 22 PhP to 1 US$)
  • 7. Resumē of Maximo M. Aton Jr. Page 7 This project included the demolition of existing old building, elevating the ground elevation by 1.15 meters for the entire 7,400sqm floor area (this required the hauling of big volume filling materials), concreting using pumpcrete, office construction, installation of racking system, thermal insulation, water proofing, electrical installation, water supply installation, perimeter paving and drainage. I was the one doing the overall project management of the project. One of my contributions to this project was to convert the additive claim of the contractor into a deductive after double- checking the calculation that the contractor thought would not be done due to its length.
