Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

2016 NAL: Generation of Grid for Hybrid LES/RANS or DES simulations on High speed
Flow bodies in 3D using Pointwise with simulations carried on in-house solver and
post processing in tecplot. Also studying and simulation of flow physics involved in
aerodynamic interaction between two bodies at high speeds with SU2 and inhouse
solver.
2015 M Tech. Project: Design and Optimization of Gurney Flap for Maximum
Lift-to-Drag Ratio on an Airfoil for Low Reynolds Numbers
Gurney Flap is a passive high lift device used to increase the maximum lift coefficient
of lift with a small drag penalty. The project includes CFD simulations of the effects
of Gurney Flap when attached to the airfoil and also the effects it produces on the
airfoil performance with different configurations of Gurney Flap. The simulations were
carried on using SU2 solver (RANS). The next phase of the project was to optimize
the position of the flap on the airfoil to maximize the glide ratio for low Reynolds
number flows, using Golden Section Search Optimization Algorithm.
2014 Design of a Pesticide Spraying Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
The project was accompalished as a course project of Aerospace Vehicle Design. The
pesticide spraying vehicle was designed conceptually for the sole purpose of using an
unmanned system which would be fully automated consisting of GPS to locate the
path or the track to be sprayed by chemical. This automated system would ensure
least human involvement and thus least human errors. The Conceptual Designing was
accompalished in a team of four.
2013 Generation of a 3-DOF code for an Aircraft
A three degree of freedom code was generated in MATLAB for the dynamics of an
aircraft. The code was developed for trajectory simulations in three degrees of freedom
for an aircraft given the initial flight conditions.
2013 B.E. Project: Human-Hydraulic Interface Bicycle
Its an innovative idea to link the human effort and the hydraulics to generate enough
power in the bicycle such that the efforts required for tasks like climbing up the hill
etc. can be minimized. The chain driven mechanism in a general bicycle was replaced
by a hydraulic mechanism, consisting of actuators and accumulators, one-way valves.
The actuators transfer the mechanical power through the fluid to other parts and the
accumulators store the extra energy in bladders to be used later while doing tasks
which require greater mechanical efforts.

The internship consisted of a visit to NSCPL thermal power plant to understand its
working, for a period of 2 months.
