I would say that I am fairly lucky to have a chance to join this year AAS meeting because not
many first year graduate students usually come to the meeting. My main goals for this meeting are
attending my first Astropy workshop and presenting the progress of my current research project
about finding galaxy clusters. The size and the scale of this meeting is completely different from
my first scientific meeting I attended last year in Vietnam. There are more than ten sessions running
at the same time covered not only all kinds of researchtopics in astrophysics from exoplanet to
cosmology, but also public outreach and other astrophysics related topics such as coding and
writing papers. The conference can easily felt overwhelming as many events occurs
simultaneously. I can only write about the conference from my own perspective, and keep in mind

Battery Park City is a mainly residential, 92 acre community, located on the southwestern tip of
Manhattan. The community is built mostly on landfill made of soil and rock excavated during the
construction of The World Trade Center. Geographically, the area is surrounded by the Financial
District on the southeastern side, Tribeca on the northeastern side, and by the Hudson River on the
west side.
Named for its historic park, Battery Park actually did not exist 50 years ago. The park itself got
its name in 1623, when early Dutch settlers landed and placed battery cannons in order to protect
the land. In the 1800 s, the land was mostly used as an immigration center. Once Ellis Island was
established as an alternate immigration center in 1892, Battery Park lost its role. Battery Park
contained many shipping piers, which latter lost its purpose with the creation of air travel.
