ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop is a software application that allows users to download and edit
sessions from ResponseCard AnyWhere, export session data and generate reports.

Technical Requirements
Technical Requirements
The following are required for ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop to properly function:
• Microsoft Windows 32 or 64-bit XP, Vista or 7
• Intel or AMD 600 Mhz class processor (1Ghz or higher recommended)
• 256 MB RAM
• 10 MB hard disk space (an additional 32 MB is required if Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is not
installed)
• 1024x768 resolution at 32-bit color or higher
• Standard USB 1.1/2.0 port (for USB-based hardware devices)

Installation
Installation
It is recommended to download ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop from the Turning Technologies
website.
Downloading ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop
The Turning Technologies website always has the current, most up-to-date software available in its
Download section.
How to download ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop...
1 Go to http://www.turningtechnologies.com/responsesystemsupport/downloads.
2 Select the Legacy tab.
3 Click on ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop.
4 Enter the required information on the Software Downloads Registration and click Submit.
5 Click the Download icon to start the download.
6 Click Accept to agree to the terms and conditions or press Esc on the keyboard to cancel the
download.
7 When prompted to Save the setup file, it is recommended to save the file to a recognizable specified
location (ie, Desktop or flash drive).
Installing ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop
Please be sure you have full administrative privileges to download and install software. If you are
unsure, check with your IT Administrator.
How to install ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop...
1 Double-click the saved setup file.
2 Click Next on the InstallShield Wizard.
3 Select I accept the terms in the license agreement or I do not accept the terms in the license
agreement. Selecting ‘I do not accept the terms in the license agreement’ cancels the install.
4 Click Next on the InstallShield Wizard.

Installation
5 Optionally, enter your Username and Organization.
6 Select to allow Anyone who uses this computer (all users) or Only for me access to the Hardware
Updater.
7 Click Next on the InstallShield Wizard.
8 Select a language and click Next on the InstallShield Wizard.
9 Click Install on the InstallShield Wizard to complete the installation.
10 Click Finish to exit the InstallShield Wizard.

Sessions
Sessions
This section describes the process of downloading and editing sessions from ResponseCard
AnyWhere.
Retrieving Sessions from ResponseCard AnyWhere
ResponseCard AnyWhere stores up to 10 sessions at a time. To ensure data protection, it is
recommended to download all sessions from ResponseCard AnyWhere to ResponseCard AnyWhere
Desktop.
How to retrieve sessions...
1 Connect ResponseCard AnyWhere to the computer with a standard mini USB cable.
2 Select Retrieve Session from the application screen.
By default, the questions and answer choices for Session 1 are displayed. All sessions stored on
ResponseCard AnyWhere are downloaded to the software. To view another session, click on the
drop-down menu next to Choose Session and select the appropriate session.
3 Click Save All to save all imported sessions to individual files or click Save to save only the session
displayed.
Changing the Question and Answer Text
Text can be added to question and answer choices.
How to change the question and answer text...
1 Left-click on Question 1 (Optionally, right-click and choose Edit Question Text).
2 Enter the new question text.
3 Press Enter or click outside of the text box to accept the text.
4 Repeat steps 1 - 3 for the remaining question and answer choices.
5 Click Save to save the edited session.

Specifying an Answer Value
A correct value, incorrect value or a numeric point value can be applied to an answer option.
How to specify an answer value...
1 Highlight the row of the answer option (Optionally, right-click the answer option, mouse over
Change Answer Value and select the appropriate choice).
2 In the Set Answer Value drop-down menu, select one of the following:
• No Value (enter a numeric point value in the field)
• Correct (worth 100 points)
• Incorrect

Participants
Participants
A participant list allows users to identify participants by name and Device ID. Under the Participants
section of ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop, users can create or edit existing participant lists.
Associating an Existing Participant List with a Session
The default folder for ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop participant lists is: C:UsersYOUR
NAMEMy DocumentsResponseCard AnyWhere DesktopParticipants
How to associate an existing participant list with a session...
1 Click on the drop-down menu below Participant List.
2 Select the appropriate list.
3 Click Save.
Creating a New Participant List
The participant list consists of four columns that cannot be altered:
• Device ID - The six-digit hexadecimal number on the back of the ResponseCard
• First Name - The first name of the participant
• Last Name - The last name of the participant
• User Data - Student ID, User ID or any other important participant information. This field may also
be left blank.
How to create a new participant list...
1 Select the Participants icon.
2 Click File.
Note
To select a participant list that is saved in a
location other than the default location, click the
Import Participant List button. Browse to the
appropriate location and select the participant list.
The participant list will now appear in the drop-
down menu.

3 Select New List.
4 Name the participant list and click OK.
5 Click Yes to add content to the participant list.
6 Enter the participant information in the fields provided and press Enter.
Another row is added for more participants.
7 Repeat step 5 to add additional participants.
8 Click File and select Save or Save As to save the participant list.
Editing an Existing Participant List
An existing participant list can be edited within the ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop application.
How to edit an existing participant list...
1 Select the Participants tab.
2 Click File.
3 Select Open.
4 Select the appropriate participant list.
The following options are available for editing:
• Edit text
• Remove a participant
• Add a participant
5 To edit text, double-click the cell. To remove a participant, select the row and click Edit. Select
Remove Participant. To add a participant, select a row and click Edit. Select Add Participant. A
blank row is added below the selected row.
6 Click Save or Save As to save the new participant list.
Note
Selecting Save stores the participant list with the
original name to the default save location.
Selecting Save As allows the user to rename the
participant list and specify the save location.

Reports
Reports
Users can view participant results through the Reports feature of ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop.
Generating a Report
ResponseCard AnyWhere Desktop generates reports in HTML format. A data preview is provided
with the first two questions of the selected session. Reports are displayed in your default internet
browser.
How to generate a report...
1 Select the Reports icon.
2 Select the appropriate session.
3 Select a report to generate. Three options are available:
• Results by Question - Displays a summary of the results for each question
• Individual Results - Displays a detailed listing of responses for each question from each individual
participant
• Individual Score - Displays a summary of the results for each question from each individual
participant including their total points
4 Click Generate.
5 Save the report as a HTML file.
Note
To select a session that is saved in a location
other than the default location, click the Import
Session button. Browse to the appropriate
location and select the session. The session will
now appear in the drop-down menu.

Export
Export
Sessions can be exported to a TXT or CSV file for reporting purposes. All data is exported in comma
delimited format.
Exporting Session Results
Response data that has been downloaded and saved can be used in various applications or
documents. The TXT and CSV formats are common formats used by many standard applications.
How to export session results...
1 Select the Export icon.
2 Select the appropriate session.
3 Select the fields to include in the data export. Four fields are available:
• Device ID
• First Name
• Last Name
• User Data
4 Select a CSV format. Two export options are available:
• Response Export - Exports the Device ID and answer selections for each participant
• Scores Export - Exports the Device ID and the total score for each participant
5 Click Export.
6 Name the file and specify the save location.
Note

location and select the session. The session will
now appear in the drop-down menu.
