Question 1
1. Title inspiration
Our title inspiration is clearly the animate Marvel’s Logo. The images of the
comics are moving really quickly like if someone is turning the pages while
Marvel’s logo is also moving.
2. Title
We chose this title because our character had been
kidnapped, he is in a room where he can’t go out,
he is like a prisoner in a cage…We chose a short title
that the audience understand immediately.
We create a pretty front with newspaper.
We add a special effect behind "CAGED" to make
it move with an extract of fire video.
Final result:
The final result looks grungie and rough.
This adds tension and helps enforce the
thriller convention.
It looks a bit like the Marvel’s logo.
3. Enigma created in “Marnie”.
•
In the beginning of the year, we had to analyse a Hitchcock thriller, Marnie.

object.
•
Big close up when she chooses an identity
card and switching it for another one; it tells
us that it's not her first time that she does it
because she has a lot of false I.D cards.
It builds enigma around her.
4. Enigma in our product
On the first scene, We created enigma by a
warning: ‘’Don’t look at the file’’; which
intrigues the audience who wants to know!
Then we zoomed on this sentence to create
more intrigue. And to make it easier for the
audience to read
On this scene, after having opened the file, interne
stops working which is unusual, the expression of
the character shows his confusion.
Facial expressions to express a feeling is a usual
technique in thrillers.
The character is locked in his classroom. By this
tension and series of strange phenomena, we
feel his fear.
5. Location in “SAW”
For our production our inspiration was clearly the horror-thriller Saw.
In the first scene, the character had been kidnapped and wake up in a
dark room
Further in the movie, they show the live of the character before his
kidnapping.
6. Location in our product
The action took place in two different locations like
in the movie “Saw”
The first one is is a dark room where he had been
kidnapped. We don't know where it is which
create tension and enigma
The second one is a classroom because our main
character is a student which is easier to create a
student atmosphere.
7. Sound
You can't have a thriller without music. Music adds to the effect of action, intensifies atmosphere
and mystery that images alone can't offer.
We used Garage Band to create our diagetic and non-diagetic sounds for the product.
8. Costumes in “Disturbia”
In the movie Disturbia, main male character is wearing
basic male clothes to show that he is an everyday
person.
The evil character is always wearing black
clothes. His facial expressions clearly show that
he is not right
