The document summarizes research on the fabrication of iron oxide microrods (MRs) with different crystal phases through a solvothermal method and annealing processes. It was found that carbon remained in the structures when annealing at low temperature (150°C), contributing to higher dye adsorption and drug loading capabilities. The Fe3O4-C sample showed superior adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes. When applied as a drug carrier, the MRs achieved mass loading ratios of 12.9% for chemical loading and 7.8% for physical loading of tissue plasminogen activator. The magnetic structures show potential for applications in water treatment and medicine.

Computationally Driven Characterization of Magnetism, Adsorption, and Reactiv...Joshua Borycz
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of nanoporous materials that are com- posed of metal-containing nodes connected by organic linkers. The study of MOFs has grown in importance due to the wide range of possible node and linker combinations, which allow tailoring towards specific applications. This work demonstrates that the- ory can complement experiment in a way that advances the chemical understanding of MOFs. This thesis contains the results of several investigations on three different areas of MOF research: 1) magnetism, 2) CO2 adsorption, and 3) catalysis.
MOFs are ideal candidates as gas-sensing materials and have been widely used to detect oxygen, water vapor, toxic and hazardous gases, special air pollutants, and VOCs.
ACETYLATION OF BENZYLIC ALCOHOLS OVER BiFeO3 (BFO), Bi0.86Sm0.07Eu0.07FeO3 (B...EDITOR IJCRCPS
BiFeO3 (BFO), Bi0.86Sm0.07Eu0.07FeO3 (BSEFO), and Bi0.86Sm0.07Cd0.07FeO3 (BSCFO) nanopowders were prepared by the sol-gel
combustion method and the catalytic performances were evaluated in acetylation reaction of benzyl alcohol. The physical chemical
properties of catalysts were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, scanning electron microscope (SEM), EDX and BET surface.
Efficient acetylation of benzyl alcohol was carried out over all the nano powders using acetyl chloride/ acetonitrile at room
temperature. Among the nanopowders, BSCFO showed the highest catalytic performance and the yield of benzyl acetate was 89,
45, and 69 percent over BSCFO, BFO, and BSEFO, respectively. Partial substitution of Sm-Eu and Sm-Cd in bismuth ferrite
improved the catalytic performance and increased the specific surface area of the catalysts. A direct relationship was resulted
between catalytic performance and surface of catalysts, where BSCFO with the highest surface area (111m2/g) exhibited the
superior catalytic performance. The quantitative yield for acetate product was also resulted for acetylation of p-methyl benzyl
alcohol, p-nitro benzyl alcohol and p-chloro benzyl alcohol on BSCFO. The catalysts showed good reusability in the process. The
study confirmed the catalysts could be promising catalyst for acetylation of alcohols.

Synthesis and Characterization of MOF based Composites for Energy storage app...Danyal Hakeem Jokhio
Despite extensive efforts and research put in the field, conventional energy storage devices (ESDs) such as various supercapacitors and batteries are near their performance limit in terms of power densities, energy densities, capacitance, charge retention, and cyclic stability. This is primarily due to limiting intrinsic properties of the electrode materials such as average surface area and poor porosity, combined with sluggish redox kinetics due to lack of electrode functionality. So, the need of the hour is to explore new materials for efficient storage of the energy. Among these new materials, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can serve as potential candidates because they have high specific surface area, high porosity with tuneable morphology and hence tuneable pore size, functionality linking to active metal sites and ligands. However, there remains a gap in fully utilising MOFs in energy storage applications commercially. Due to the highly porous nature of MOFs, their structural stability is compromised especially in aqueous electrolytes. To utilize the maximum potential of MOFs as electrode materials, it is of utmost importance to address poor structural integrity and low intrinsic conductivity of MOFs.
In this work, it has been tried to overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks of MOFs by using additives of conductive nature such as graphene nanoplatelets (GNP). Hydrothermal approach was used to synthesize hybrid MOF by controlling molar ratio of Nickel and Cobalt in combination with different organic ligands. As a battery-type supercapacitor electrode material, the 2:1 Ni/Co hybrid MOF with 40mg GNP, using terephthalic acid as ligand, delivered a high specific capacity of 658.8 C·g−1 at the current density of 1 A·g−1. Similarly, the 1:2 Ni/Co hybrid MOF, using 2-MethylImidazole as ligand, delivered a high specific capacity of 642.4 C·g−1 at the current density of 1 A·g−1. Moreover, breakthrough results were obtained by optimizing synthesis with in-situ deposition on nickel foam of 2:1 Ni/Co (with 40mg GNP) hybrid MOF, which produced an impressive specific capacity of 1264 C·g−1 at 1 A/g, surpassing, to the best of our knowledge, most of the previously reported MOF based electrode materials.
This work not only develops a high-performance electrode material of supercapacitor, but being the first of its kind in Pakistan, also provides the foundation of systematic research for the electrochemical properties of multi-metal MOFs.

Mortar strength of Low calcium Flyashbased GeopolymerIOSRJEEE
Development of an alternative to conventional cement binder has become the essential need in the construction industries. Production of the conventional constituents of concrete particularly Portland cement exploits significant amount of natural resources and emits equivalent amountof carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Research made on making binder without cement has come to a viable level of developing geopolymers.Industrial wastes and by products that are pozzolanic in nature are being used as source material and activated using alkaline solutions to use as binder. Considerable research has been carried out to study about the performance of geopolymer concrete with steam curing or hot curing which are feasible for precast concrete and practically not viable for conventional construction activities. However, there is not much data available on themortar strength.Abasic study on the strength characteristicsof low calcium flyash based geopolymer with 8-16M molar concentration of Sodium hydroxide and 1.5-3.0 liquid ratios of sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide. Both hot oven curingat 65oC and ambient curing at room temperature aremade. The results are compared and the optimum molarity for maximum strength is reported.

Fe3O4 g C3N4 composite was synthesized using hydrothermal simple and facile techniques. The sonocatalytic activity of the magnetic Fe3O4 g C3N4 composite was studied through the H2O2 assisted system for degradation of water soluble organic pollutants such as methylene blue MB , rhodamine B RhB and methyl orange MO . X ray diffraction XRD and scanning electron microscopy SEM equipped were employed for the characterizing the structure and morphology of the so synthesized nanohybrid. The integration of H2O2 and catalyst dosage enhaced the sonocatalytic degradation of dyes. Furthermore, the magnetic property of the sample leaded to easier separation of the microhybrid, made it recyclable with a negligible decline in the dye degradation even after four consecutive recycles. Spatial charge separation on the (110)/(102) facets of cocatalyst-free ZnIn2S...Pawan Kumar
Photorefining of biomass and its derivatives to value-added chemicals is an alternative solution to address the global energy shortage and environmental issues. Herein, efficient and selective oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF, 91.1% conversion) to 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF, 99.4% selectivity) is demonstrated by visible light-driven photocatalysis over cocatalyst-free ZnIn2S4 nanosheets with crystal facet engineering. The spatial accumulation of photogenerated electrons and holes on the (110) and (102) crystal facets triggers a two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e-ORR) for H2O2 generation and HMF oxidation into DFF, respectively. The severe attenuation of photostability is caused by the irreversible photocorrosion of Zn–S with the formation of Zn–O chemical bonds by the formation of ˙OH from the in situ decomposition of H2O2. Spontaneous substitution of oxygen with sulfur has been proven to efficiently improve the photostability of ZnIn2S4. This present work provides insights into improving the durability of ZnIn2S4 and sheds new light on biomass valorization via photorefinery.
The project will focus on synthesis of hexagonal structured pure phases of compositions: BaM1/3Ti2/3O3-δ and BaM1/6Ti5/6O3-δ, where M= Sc, In and Fe via different methods such as Solid state sintering and wet chemical route. The ultimate goal is to finding structure – functionality relationships within these proton and mixed conducting systems. A substantial effort will focus on search for and fabrication of new materials although the main part of the work will concentrate on detailed structural characterisation (rietveld refinement), impedance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.

The anticorrosion performance of three pyrazolo-pyrimidine derivatives, namely, 4-amino pyrazolo-pyrimidine
(APP), 4-hydroxy pyrazolo-pyrimidine (HPP), and 4-mercapto pyrazolo-pyrimidine (MPP) on copper in 0.5M
H2SO4 solution have been investigated using electrochemical, surface analysis, as well as theoretical techniques.
The results indicate that these inhibitors have largely inhibited the corrosion of copper and the inhibition efficiency
increased with increasing concentration. Moreover, the inhibitors adsorb on copper surface following
Langmuir adsorption isotherm. XPS analysis were performed for describing the bonding characteristics between
inhibitors and copper substrate. Furthermore, DFT and molecular dynamics simulation calculations were applied
to further explain the anti-corrosion mechanism.

Preparation, characterization and application of sonochemically doped fe3+ in...eSAT Journals
Abstract In this present study, mechanistic investigation of ultrasound–assisted dye decolorization/degradation was investigated using sonochemically prepared Fe3+ doped ZnO. Fe3+ doped ZnO nanoparticle was prepared under ultrasound (20 kHz) irradiation using a doping concentration of 2 wt% of Fe(III). To investigate the catalytic activity of Fe3+ doped ZnO, Acid Red 14 (azo dye) was chosen for decolorization/degradation using sonolysis, photocatalysis and sono–photocatalysis processes. To study the influence of dopant onto structure, crystallinity, and optical properties, different analytical analyses were performed such as X–ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Zeta potential, Delsa Nano Particle Size Analyzer (PSA), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer analysis (VSM) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE–SEM) etc. For photocatalytic experiments, a blended high pressure mercury UV lamp with maximum peak emission at 365 nm was used. The decolorization/degradation of dye with modified photocatalyst showed faster reaction kinetics under sono–photocatalytic process. Ultrasound showed an additive effect for degradation/decolorization process. The maximum decolorization of AR14 was achieved (~ 82%) under sono–photocatlytic process with an initial dye concentration of 20 ppm. The sono–photocatalysis process showed 1.4 – 1.6 higher reaction rates with Fe–doped ZnO than pure ZnO.
