After researching fonts for a horror magazine or poster, the author notes that red fonts are commonly used to represent blood and danger in the horror genre. Some fonts seen have unusual shapes that could relate to the subject or be used for aesthetics alone. The author created several font options and feels the simpler top right and bottom left fonts are most effective for horror, with the bottom right being too complex.
1. Research of fonts
After researching different fonts it’s
apparent that majority are in red which is
the typical convention when talking about
horror as it has connotations with blood and
danger. I think this is a convention I would
like to use either on my magazine or poster.
Some of the fonts are very ‘active’ with
funky shapes, this could be relating to the
film or just for aesthetics. I like simple fonts
however I think more shapely ones look
effective too.
Here are the ones that I have
made, I like the bottom left as I
think its really effective but not
sure if seems more ‘action’ than
horror. The top right I think is
simple and effective, and as
above with the example texts
the majority seem simple. I think
the bottom right is aesthetically
pleasing however may seem too
confusing like there is too much
going on, therefore I think a
better option would be the less
complicated top left.
