Research into my target audience
- 1. Research into my Target audience By Emma Hillary
- 2. Popular Horror movies and their success • The Sixth Sense (1999): $293.5 million – this is the highest grossing horror movie of all time. It starred actors such as Bruce Willis, which may be one of the causes of its success. It was nominated for 6 Oscars. • Jaws (1975): $260 million – This movie quickly became a cult classic. Directed by Steven Spielberg and won 3 Oscars. • The Exorcist (1973): $232.9 million – This movie was based on a novel about a real life exorcism that happened in 1949. The movie was voted ‘scariest movie of all time’ but multiple groups including Entertainment weekly.
- 3. Age The average age for horror movie viewers range from about 15 to 25. At this age of young adulthood/ adolescence people are more inclined to look for excitement and a rush. People of a younger age are usually easier to scare. Also a younger audience is less likely to be put off by images such as blood, gore, and violence. Whereas an older audience may see these as unsettling and be put off.
- 4. Gender Due to common stereotype males are seen as more thrill seeking. Looking at secondary data I have found that there is a slight difference in horror movie viewers, with the amount of males being slightly higher than females.
- 5. Conclusion To sum up my target audience is young adults, both males and females, but predominantly males.
