1. JOKER film 2019
The Joker was released on October the 4th 2019 with major
controversy, film critics walked out on the film saying they found it to
be violent. The film is about a character named Arthur Fleck, played
by Joaquin Phoenix who is a middle aged man trying to pursue his
dreams as a stand up comedian in the crime-riddled city of Gotham,
He faces bullying as he works as a party clown and is desperate to
get noticed and treated with respect. He then kills two people on a
train and begins to get noticed by the public anonymously as they
start to wear clown masks symbolising justice, he continues to
murder the people who have treated him with disrespect and not
knowingly expands the group of people who fight for justice with
him. The film itself addresses the themes of mental health, justice,
violence and betrayal.
The Joker was discussed in many articles and tv shows, IndieWire
(www.indiewire.com) had a more positive attitude about the film
saying “Jessica Chastain Calls Joaquin Phoenix in ‘Joker’ One
of the ‘Greatest Pieces of Acting’ She’s Seen, whilst The
Guardian had a more negative review “The most disappointing
film of the year” all of this can be found on,
(www.theguardian.com)
On the contrary The New York Times (www.nytimes.com) had a
more open-minded article “What's the Panic Over ‘Joker’ Really
About?” Where they talked about the film overall, included a trailer
and then talked about the effect it gave on some of the audience.
