Evaluation question 6
1. 6. What have you learnt
about technologies from
the process of
constructing this product?
2. Different technologies used
• Throughout the process of creating my media product I used a variety
of different technologies such as:
• Computer
• Digital camera
• Microsoft word/power point
• Internet explorer
• The blog (edublogs)
3. Digital camera
• I used this to capture the images that I used on my media product. As
it was a digital camera, I was able to view the picture that I had taken
immediately, allowing to see if it was what I wanted or if I would need
to change certain aspects in order to create a better image.
• With the camera I learnt numerous things, but mainly how to use
it, but also how to use certain features on the camera to add effects
to the image that I had taken.
5. Photoshop
Photoshop is an image manipulation program, it allowed me to edit and alter
the photos that I had taken. I found it extremely useful in the development of
my media product, as at first I did not consider altering my images, but after
learning, and experimenting with the program I found that I could greatly
enhance my images.
Photoshop is used by the majority of magazine publications, following the
same convention, I too used Photoshop.
6.
7. InDesign
I had never used InDesign prior to construction my media product. During the
process I leant how to set up a document that is suitable for creating a
cover, contents, and double page spread.
The setup system on InDesign allows you to create columns that are of equal size
and distance apart.
‘InDesign’ is a popular professional programme that is used in the magazine
industry as it produces good quality, professional results. An example of this is
the ‘National Magazine Company’. It produces popular high end
Magazines such as Country Living, and Cosmopolitan.
8. The blog
The blog allowed me to document, present, and reflect on my work and
progress.
The blog was easy to use, aiding my work as it allowed me to quickly
upload and view my work.
9. The internet
• The internet was hugely helpful during the process. It allowed me to
gather information about how to use/work certain programs or
devices. The internet allowed me to access my blog and be able to
document the work and progress.
• Also during the research it allowed me to learn and find information
on different music magazines and their conventions.
10. Social Media
• I used social media websites such as Twitter, and Facebook to find
information about my target audience and to get their feedback on
my work.
• I found these site a quick, easy and highly useful source of first hand
information coming directly from people that would be the target
audience of my magazine.
11. Here is an example of how I effectively used
these social networking websites to gain
useful information.
