Throughout this particular music video the way in which the mise en scene has been
constructed creates a very materialistic representation of women, by having a wide range of
expensive products highlighted including jewellery, setting and costumes. From the beginning of
the video the main artist (Nicki Minaj) is portrayed very wealthy, wearing expensive dresses and
jewellery throughout. The male artist featuring in this video is also portrayed very wealthy,
wearing a suit and gold jewellery.

Wealth is defined very positively throughout this video with the lyrics emphasizing this “I wish
that I could have this moment for life”. Also intertextuality to the popular children’s story
“Cinderella” has been used throughout, therefore defining wealth almost like a fairy tale and
creating the ideology that everyone dreams of being like the characters throughout this music
video and being able to afford expensive clothes, jewellery, cars and so on.
