1. Introduction Script
Over the last few years there has been a large increase in mental
health problems among young people with more than 850,000 young
people in the UK alone being diagnosed with a mental health
condition. Statistics show that 1 in 10 children aged between 5 and 16
suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder, that is around three
young people in one classroom, here at E6 radio we were eager to find
out what educational institutions were doing and what support systems
they have in place to tackle this on going issue. Today I spoke to Carol
Doherty, the college councillor at Salford City College to see what they
were doing to tackle this issue
Ending Script
Thank you Carol, so it seems that educational institutions are both
aware of this on going problem and are doing everything they can to
effectively tackle this issue by offering a wide range of support to those
students who may be struggling.
