as a form of art therapy, Itoo will be usingthe mediaformat
photographyasa formof art therapyinwhichI will produce a
numberof images,all of whichwill tackle the subjectmatter

The overall ideaforthisprojectisto use my ownexperiencesand
feelingsinregardstomy trauma inducedmental healthissuesin
orderto produce a numberof portraitimages,all of whichwill
portray notonlythe variousmental healthillnessescaused by
trauma such as Depression,PTSD,Dissociative IdentityDisorder
and Psychosis butalsothe emotions,feelings,symptomssuchas
anxiety,severe moodswings,anger,dissociation,flashbacksand
nightmareswhichaccompanythem.
I am aimingtoproduce imagesas thoughtheywere constructed
for a mental healthawarenesscampaign,althoughIwillnotbe
producingthe actual posters,I am producingthe imageswiththe
intentionthattheywouldbe usedwithinthe campaignposters.
Target Audience?

AfterconductingprimaryresearchIfoundthat the target
audience formyimageswouldbe mid-teensandpre middleaged
people,bothmale andfemale,specificallythose whohave direct
or in directexperiencedealingwithmentalillnesses.
In termsof what the audience will want,theywill wantclear,
goodqualityimageswhichare producedtoa professional
standard.Due to me producingimageswhichare suitable fora
mental healthawarenesscampaign,the audience will want
informative images,informingthemaboutthe subjectmatter,as
well asimagesthatportray the illnessinawaywhichisnot
offensive.Theywill alsowantthoughtevokingimages.Alsodueto
the fact that my targetaudience are those whohave haddirector
indirectinvolvementwithmental healthimages,the audience will
wantimageswhichare relatable,therefore makingthemmore
personal tothe personviewingthem.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
My projectwill meetthe needs of the targetaudience due tothe
fact that I will aimtoproduce clear,goodqualityimages.AlsoI
will ensure thatIhave conductedthoroughresearchintothe
mental illnessesIwill be portrayingthroughmyimagery,
therefore allowingme toproduce imageswhichwill informthe
audience aboutthese variousillnesses,whilstensuringthatnone
of these imagesare offensive.

will you use to realise your
project?
Pre–production:In termsof pre production,firstlyIhave to
conduct thoroughresearchinregardsto the subjectmatter
mental healthsothatI am clear as to whatexactlyIam tryingto
portray throughmyimages.Ialso needtouse a varietyof ideas
generationtechniques,aswell aslocationscouting,risk
assessmentsandshootingschedules.

Production: The equipmentIwill be usingaNikon3100 inorder
to capture my images;Iwill alsobe usinga tripod.
A technique Iwill use whencapturingsome of the images,Iwill be
usinga slow shutterspeedinordertocreate a blurredmotion
effect.
Post-production: In termsof post-productionIwill be usingthe
editingsoftware Photoshopinordertomanipulatemyimages,for
example,forone of myfinal imagesIneedto merge several
imagestogetherintoone.Alsosome imageswill be inblackand
white thereforeIwill needtouse thisspecificsoftware inorderto
achieve this.
