Job Purpose
Development of business intelligence data and reports for senior management in both
professional and academic functions of the university.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic analysis and modelling to inform management decision making; Data visualisation;
Exploratory analysis and insight; Data quality/integrity analysis; Management and ad hoc
reporting; Support for statutory returns and audits.
Proactive identification and resolution of major technical inefficiencies: automating and
standardising legacy manual corporate reporting processes eliminating user error and reducing
costly staff resource (MS Access, Excel, Word, VBA); migrating and refactoring key daily data feeds
from MS Access to Oracle SQL achieving efficiency gains of several orders of magnitude.
Mentoring of junior staff members. Identifying and building relationships with key knowledge
holders and consumers of data across the institution.
Data, business logic and report scoping and analysis for Cognos data warehousing project
requirements gathering. Identification, specification and testing of enhancements and data
integrity improvements to the corporate core systems to satisfy the evolving requirements of
management information processes and statutory returns.
