The Nazarene Nurses Training College in Washim organized a visit to the local water purification plant for 32 first-year B.Sc Nursing students and 3 faculty members. The objectives of the visit were to observe the plant setup, understand the purification process, and learn how purified water is distributed. The students toured the facilities and learned about the six-step process involving collection, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, disinfection, and storage. They gained valuable practical knowledge about purifying waste water through physio-chemical treatment and the components used at the plant.

2. Nazarene Nurses Training College Washim Plan and Organized visit to water purification
plant washim for students of First year B.Sc Nursing. As a part of their curricular activity.
Visit conducted on 26th June 2022. Visit was really informative for all the students. They got
good amount of information about the overall procedure usually carried out in water
purification. There were 32 students are visited to the plant along with 03 teaching faculty.
Objectives of visit:
 To observe the setup of the plant.
 To gain knowledge regarding the overall process of purification
 To know about how the purified water is supplied to the areas in Washim
Water purification plant is running under the Municipal Corporation Washim. This plant was
built in 1883. The visit was supervised by Mr.
Vivek Jamnik, Ms. Pallavi Telgote and Mr. Nitin
Dandge. We are especially thankful to Mr. Kapate
Sir Chief Executive Officer of water purification
plant, Washim because he granted us permission
for taking visit at purification plant and gave the
proper guidance to students and allow to visit for
the practical based approach learning to students.
Water purification plant is run by Government of
Maharashtra.
Water purification Process-

The visit started from the initial tank where the waste water of city and industries
is collected. Then that flow is collected from the inlet pipe and removes the larger
solid inorganic material such as paper, plastic, etc.
The water for this plant is supplied from Ekburji
dam. Then water sent in the aeration tank it is then
stored in setting tank. In further process for the
filtration of water.
After this process water send to the further two tank
called setting tank. In this tank aerated water mixed
with alum. Known chemical coagulation this process
known as Coagulation, by this process all dirt will
settle in down in the tank. For separating dirt from
water a type of rotor is used and this process is known as Flocculation.
Next processed water is then store in to the filter bed The filter beds named as filter bed 1,
filter bed 2, filter bed 3 etc. the process proceeds by transferring the water into pump house
for Chlorination. Chlorin is mixed with the
processed water for infection.

3. Once the chlorination process over the water is ready for
used and water is stored into the main tank with the
capacity of over 12.5 lac liters. And from this tank the
purified water is supplied to various different area of
washim district.
From this visit, we get the information and practical
knowledge about the physio-chemical treatment of
waste water and components used in purification
plant. Some test should be performing for general
discussion with experts in the industry.
