1. REPORT OF THE SCIENCE SOCIETY
The Science Society had another successful year in 2011. The Annual General Meeting
was held on 22nd December at the school library. About 80 students attended the
meeting. These students were elected as office bearers:
Chairman : Josephine Chow
Secretary : Fisol bin Fadzil
Treasurer : Alias Kadir
Acitvities:
Several activities were carried out during the year. This included trips, film shows and
talks.
1. Trips
Three trips were organised by the society, and the response from the members
was very good. On 12th January, we made a trip to the Science Centre in Kuala
Lumpur. The trip was a great success and the members have requested that this
be made an annual affair. On 5th April, the students visited the Hanchow Cement
Factory in Seremban. Over 60 students signed up for the trip, but only 44 could
go as we were only able to charter one bus. The last trip for the year – to
Universiti Putera Malaysia – was made on 7th July. The members found the trip
to the Agricultural Station at UPM very educational.
2. Film Shows
The society also screened two documentary films. The first, entitled ‘The National
American Space Agency’ was screened in July. The second documentary, ‘Great
Scientists of Asia’, screened in August, turned out to be a hit with the students.
Students from other schools were also invited for the show.
2. 3. Talks
Three talks were held during the year. Again the support of the members was
encouraging. The first talk, ‘Computer Technology’, given by Mr Ang Chin Wah,
was held on 10th February. The second talk, held on 4th September, was given by
Mr Vasudevan. He gave a very interesting talk on engineering as a career. Mr
Body Munang gave a talk entitled ‘Electronics Industry in Malaysia’ on 10th
October.
The society was able to carry out its activities successfully mainly because the
members were very helpful. This year, we have also increased the monthly subscription
to RM3. This was agreed upon by all the members as they felt that the RM2 they paid
was not enough to plan any activities.
On behalf of the society I would like to thank our former adviser Mr Lim for all his
support and guidance. I would also like to welcome our new adviser, Mr Adrian Chow.
Under Mr Adrian Chow’s guidance, I feel confident that our society will become even
more active.

3. THE PRIZE DAY
The Price Day is the annual feature of every school. It is the most awaited Event for the
achievers. It is the recognition of the hard work put in by all student through out the
year. The Prize Day was held on 26th July 2011. That day was a sunny Monday. The
ceremony was held at SK Iskandar Cafetaria. It was chosen because it has a stage and
big.
A lot of planning and preparation goes into making it a day to remembered.by
all.In my school nearly all the students become a part of this special day, some are
involved in organizing, some are a part of the discipline, reception, hospitality, committees
etc. and about 300 are the participants either in the choir or the dance/drama group.
The sound of applause when the student goes up the stage to claim their price
fills them with immense, pride and joy. The parents of the child and the teachers are
chocked with emotions when they see their loved one accepting the award. It is indeed
a momentous occasional for one and all.
Students and teachers start preparing for this big day at least two months in
advance. Many students crave to be selected for the cultural programme. Hectic activity
starts with students rushing to the theatre and dance for the audition.
The Annual day begins with the presentation of the annual reportby the principal
and ends with a speech by the Chief Guest, followed by a vote of thanks moved by the
Parent’s Representative.
The best part is when acknowledging the hard work of the staff and students the
Chairman of the school announces a holiday which is welcomed with so much cheer
that the whole auditorium resounds with the screams of joy of students and why not ? it
is a well deserved award for all.
