This document provides a report on a training conducted in Junagadh, Gujarat to empower women constables to conduct safety and self-defense workshops in their communities.
The 3-day training was conducted for 79 women constables from police stations across the region. It aimed to teach the constables communication and facilitation skills, as well as self-defense techniques and information on women's rights and available support services, so they could conduct regular community workshops.
Feedback from participants indicated the training helped boost their confidence and skills for empowering women in their communities with important safety information.

We will invite questions from attendees in advance of the webinar, discuss common issues and queries with the input of colleagues from practice, and share information about what is working effectively in this area. 1. Describe the elements of debriefing performance which can be explored when providing feedback on the quality of debriefing sessions.
2. Apply a faculty development tool designed to help with peer coaching and feedback.
3. Describe and implement a strategy for effective faculty development in a simulation program
One of the shortcomings of many user interviews is the vast gulf between what people think they do versus what they actually do, not to mention what they may have forgotten having done. Fortunately, new research tools are filling that gap by allowing users to quickly provide feedback from their phone right after they use a product, allowing for the capturing of rich, emotional details. These tools are breathing new life into a traditional research tool, the diary study.
This talk share the best practices I’ve developed for designing a digital diary study that collects relevant and insightful data. It will be framed by examples from a recent diary study exploring how people use their fitness trackers (Fitbit, Jawbone Up, etc). Attendees will come away with not only an understanding of how much rich data can be collected this way, but with the basic knowledge needed to execute their own digital diary studies.
In the context of supporting civil society organisations working in the field of the democratic transition in Tunisia, Democracy Reporting International, in partnership with inProgress, produced a practical guide covering the techniques and training of adults. Members of civil society organisations are often requested to give trainings, provide knowledge, or strengthen competencies in various fields. These fields include, among others, civics, electoral observation, and legal reforms, including those linked to the setting up of a new Tunisian Constitution.
Teaching others new aptitudes, methods, or procedures requires that the trainer to be aware of different parameters in order to ensure the best learning methodology. Identifying learning needs beforehand, determining the training objective, or managing the audience are some of the essential elements that must be taken into account.
Therefore, this guide emphasizes the elements on which learning efficacy and teaching competencies depend. It enables trainers to use learning principles intended for adults and to acquire a guiding pedagogy and interactive methods in line with active communication principles, while creating a positive environment to optimise the learning process.
Collaborating with inProgress, DRI has provided this practical guide to accompany the trainers through all the steps of the training process, from conception to setting up and follow-up of trainings.
This manual has been developed on the basis of three Training of Trainers courses, which were conducted in Tunis, Tunisia between October 2013 and January 2014.

3. Introduction:
Gender based violence against women is on the rise. Eve teasing, abuse, molestation
etc. are increasingly common. In view of this, the government and the law enforcement
has a duty to undertake steps to reduce and combat this menace. It is also clear that
women empowerment, safety and self defense is critical to prevent and reduces such
incidences.
The purpose of this training is to train the women constables (2+ from each police
station) in self-defense, safety, development of self esteem and gender sensitization in
totality.
These constables in turn, will be empowered to conduct 1-2 community trainings of 2
hours on the above mentioned topics on a weekly basis. Our training will equip them
with knowledge about
1. Women empowerment, safety and self defense, confidence and positive attitude
2. Communication and training skills to enable them to conduct community programs
effectively
3. Training material that they can utilize for a more engaging and interactive
community program
Objective:
To assist Gujarat Home Dept in their endeavor to combat increasing cases of
violence and rape against women
Conduct Master trainings for police members (2 per station) and select
community leaders

Women Constables are already engaged in roles related to law enforcement with
regards to women
They themselves are women and hence can relate to women’s issues and concerns in the

Women constable counseling and guiding women/girls in their wards through such
programs will build greater trust and bond between community and police
